Hello all, picked up my first Kahr which is a CM9. It will not be my EDC but rather my quick grab pistol to throw in my gym shorts when making quick trips to the grocery store on the weekend or walking the dog around the neighborhood.
I've cleaned and lubed the CM9 and intend to break it in this weekend. Any suggestions for grips on this thing? I think after 200 rounds the cheese grater pattern will start to eat at my hand. Will the Hogue Jr grip work on this? Any others?

once u shoot that little gunand see justhow nice it does and how ccw it is, I thyink it will be more of a carry peace than u ever thought. Just sayin.
beforeworrying to much about the cheese grip part, get out and shoot it. 200 ounds is a handful anyhow. Keep ur sessions shorter andu will beless likely to pick up bad shooting techniques. Kahrs have a loooooong trigger system. very sooth but takes awhle to get decent with it, so go into the first shoot expecting accuray to wnder but what ur looking for is reliability and just getting used tothe tgrigger. The accuracy will increase as u get the know thegun better. Stay close 7 yards, it is a gun to save ur life, not bust beer cans at 25 yards. welcome to a nice friedly forum.
there are some damn good stickyps that I would recoebnd before u do an shooting.
#1. Kahr lube chart
#2 Propper preping of ur kahr

u wll benefit emmensly if u just take a half hour and read the above.
Welcome, SC. You are going to love this little pistol. Follow the prep instructions in the Tech Forum and you'll have no problems at the range. Come back and give us a range report. We wanna know how it goes.
I can't recommend grips for Kahrs, because I've never used 'em. These tiny pistols need to be grasped firmly. I like the aggressive "cheese grater" grips, because they make it easier to get a firm hold. Your hands will toughen-up in time.
Folks here have used everything from bicycle tire tubes, to Talon Grips. There are positive reports for both.

or get a pair of golf gloves or a pair of cheap ass fingerless bicycle riding gloves at wmt for range use.

Welcome to the forum! Some helpful info:
Welcome to the Kahrtalk forum supported by Kahr Arms.
Here are a few essential links and things to do BEFORE you take your new pistol to the range, and ESPECIALLY BEFORE taking it apart and trying to re-assemble it! The Kahr is a different design… 6-7 unique patents cover the Kahrs. I’m not trying to imply that you don’t know anything about guns, but many don’t know anything about the Kahrs and some of the things you can do to damage or cause malfunctions of your new, or new-to-you Kahr pistol.
First, if you don’t have a manual, yet, or one didn’t come with your pistol, you can download the pdf file here:
http://www.kahr.com/PDF/kahrmanual.pdf
Impatient? Watch one of these videos FIRST! These videos can point out possible problem areas and emphasize correct procedures!

There are many links on fixing problems listed in several places… under the New Member or Kahr Tech sub-forums.
A very handy one is the Kahr Lube Diagram:

Many of your questions can be answered in these areas and you can learn how your Kahr works and not damage it with improper handling.

There are many helpful members here most of the time who might be able to help you, but as anywhere, there are many opinions and not all are correct. Be mindful of this before doing anything drastic to modify your pistol!

The best holster I have found for forget-it-is-there comfort 24/7 with my CM9 is the PJ IWB Holster (http://pjholster.com/?page_id=37). There are so, so many members here that will concur. Paul is a great guy and a real gun lover, and he performs magic with kydex - making the holster incredibly comfortable to where you can't tell it is there whether sitting, standing or moving about. It is like the mass of the gun disappears, becoming one with your body. I carry mine with a 15° cant just behind my hip - the sweet spot. I prefer the linked one with the over the belt clip. It is available with j-hook, c-hook and velcro attachment method, and tuckable is an option. I have a tuckable one with velcro for if I need total concealment, but normally wear the above under a loose shirt.
I prefer the Qwik-Grip (http://www.lonewolfdist.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=1150&CAT=84) over the Hogue because it doesn't have the bulges and bumps.

Follow all the advice from the stickies, break it in and hopefully you will have the same luck I've had with my CM9. I'm new to semi-auto's and Kahr so figured I would do a lot of research before and after I bought. Not a single problem. I usually shoot 50 to 100 rounds each trip to the range. I haven't even noticed the grips.

I ordered Talon Grips for my PM9 but decided against using them for cosmetic reasons. I too disliked the cheese grater grip, more so on the front than the back. My solution was to lightly sand with 220 grit sandpaper to smooth it out a little. Its still aggressive enough to get a firm grip, but it doesn't turn my fingers into grated parmesan. Enjoy your new Kahr, they are great shooters and an excellent choice for concealed carry.

Bike tube grip covers are cheap and easy to make. There's talcum powder inside, so watch when you cut the tube. I used a 1.75" tube and it fits all of my polymer Kahrs... .380 to .45. When I saw my PM45, I knew I had to do something BEFORE shooting it with those cheese grater nibs!
Cut a larger than needed piece, wash inside and out, then turn the inside out. Lay the tube on the pistol and cut the top angled part to clear both sides of the magazine catch. Then you can lay it in place and trim the bottom. Use smooth cuts... no ragged edges... to stop the rubber from tearing. I used the little fingernail curved scissors to make minor in place adjustments, trying to keep the edges smooth. I started with the PM45 and the first attempt went on the PM9... a little small.
I like the feel and a tube can be used for dozens.

The Hogue jr. works great. Pictured, PJ's on the left is my most used, and a Garrett's Silent thunder on the right. Plenty of adjustments and tucks if needed.

Thanks all. When researching the CM9 I came across the Lube sticky so I followed that when I cleaned it the other night. For a holster I picked up a Desantis Nemesis for pocket carry. I EDC a PPQ right now so the CM9 will just be something to throw in my gym shorts when running errands on weekends.
I'll pick up a Hogue Jr to try out. Any trimming required?

Welcome from North Dakota
I was up your way a few times in 2012 for work. My company has an office is Bismarck and they needed an extra hand. I got to see the big city lights of Minot and worked all around Tioga.

I bought my CM9 for EDC and more recently bought a PPQ for home defense. LOL! Our taste in guns is a match, but our usage differs.
