Kinda hollow gesture since I am not aware of any departments that buy his very pricey guns. It is a nice thought that really costs him nothing. For him to not sell to individual officers is meaningless since most officers cannot afford his iron on a LEO's salary.
Will have to look at terms closer, but I think Wilson should leave individual LEs out of this. Other than that.....time to revisit my personal long held aversion to buying their guns. Think maybe I need one more 1911.

If I am buying a Wilson gun Bill Wilson better be the one who does at least 75% of the work. Either that or reduce the unjustifiable price to a level that is more commensurate with the true value.
You are paying way too much for the name.

....and are accepting the arrogance. Why I stopped doing business with Wilson about a decade ago.

Am I missing the point? It seems to me everyone who supports our cause should be applauded, not condemned. I can't afford their arms either, but I applaud their action.

I can afford Wilson's guns and, as I said, I'm reconsidering my position against doing business with them due to this. I've always liked Wilson products but their over the top prices combined with arrogance have put put me off for a whole lot of years.

Ya'll know that Wilson Combat is more than just firearms, right? Four of the best 1911 mags I have are from Wilson. And they make more that just 1911 mags. That right there can hurt just a bit.
On the email I received today from them there was also a list of companies that have joined the "Firearms Equality Movement", as compiled on the ammoland.com website. One that REALLY raised my eyebrows was MidwayUSA. I consider them a MAJOR player as a retailer.

Every firearms manufacturer and supplier should jump on the bandwagon.

On the one hand it's nice to see all these gun companies stepping up. On the other, none of the companies so far provided weapons to gov't agencies in the first place. I mean, who's local PD uses Olympic, Larue, or Wilson guns? Nobody's.

Precisely why the majors won't do it. You will NEVER see S&W, Colt, Glock, SIG etc get involved. The reason is not really money. As multi-national copprtations they know better than to get involved in the internal politics of any country in which they do business.
As to the boutique "follow the leader" folks that did resoweb hit the nail on the head. Since it won't cost them any money they can afford to pontificate. Now if it was costing them real money let see how fast they shut up.

Maybe S&W, Colt, Glock, Sig etc. had better think about it. If they don't jump in and help us win this battle, the gun ban goes through and the only customers they have are the police departments and a military that the big "O" is determined to shrink by 50% compared to the millions of private citizens that buy their products, they are in deep trouble. Maybe they can convert their factories to produce artificial flowers. In a couple of years we may be on a Kahr lawn ornament forum.

It's time for all of us, individually and corporately, to make a stand.
For our future and our children's.
We have a new mad man to deal with.
And his new name is Obummer.

Apparently Wilson still likes me enough from decade old dealings and credentials that they're willing to continue my discount for private purchase guns. Think I might well go for one or two and sell off four or five of my lesser 1911's.

It's a (very) small step for mankind to have Wilson Combat do this, but it would be a giant leap if Glock had the gumption to do it.

I can't wait to see some pictures. I've said all along that someday I would own a Wilson, not sure it will ever happen but it ain't for lack of want that's for sure.
I too would like one that Bill had major hands on but I suspect his crew has a pretty good idea what they are doing when it comes to 1911's.
Course I'd like an Ed Brown, and a Les Bauer, we hell I want them all.

Glad to see this. Those of you saying that no agencies or PD's use them, I'm sure you're correct. But, they are standing with us, and therefore I'll stand with them. The list of companies keeps getting bigger and bigger, and I believe that makes a bigger voice for us.
On a side note, I use their lube and have seen various tests showing it to be superior to anything else on the market, and this move just makes me feel all the more glad I use it. Might even buy a t-shirt next time I order since I'll never actually be able to afford a weapon from them lol. Kinda like wearing a Ferrari hat, huh?

When/if I do, you will get pics. Nothing fancy by Wilson standards. LW Officers configuration for carry. One in .45 and one in (gasp) 9mm for openers.

One of the officers at work has a basic no frills Wilson that a guy gave him, lucky dude.
I can't describe it but just holding that gun and working the slide it just oozed quality and precision, I can't imagine how nice the really big dollar models have to be. I need to have him bring it back in again, I haven't held it in a long time.
A detective brought in a Springfield ???? 9mm that his wife got, it was pretty darn nice too. I couldn't warm up to the tiny little hole in the business end but it's a nice gun.
Not something I would have got her or allowed her to get. I suggested carrying it empty chamber c0cked and locked for awhile to make sure she's got a grasp on the platform. She said she intends to carry it empty chamber anyhow. I suggested she give it to me and go get a Kahr or a sack full of rocks. She'll never have time to load the thing.
Still a nice gun, hope she gives it to me.

realy Wilson that good? What kind of pricing are we talking about here. I'll put my Kimber with Bawanna grips up against any of em. Its a piece of lead exiting a tube. Can there really be that much precision? I mean would the average shooter really score better with one?

Probably right, a good shooter with a RIA would probably out shoot a bad shooter with a Wilson but they are extremely nice.
Sort of a Geo Metro against a Jocko Porche, both will get you to the mini mart but one will turn heads where the other will only get you there.
I do love Rocks though too, don't have one now but I will.

Awesome, good for these guys. If Wilson Combat wasn't astronomically expensive I would buy one and support these guys.

Me too.
$3k for a 1911, even one of the best, I find hard to swallow.
Particularly when I've already got a HK45C and P220 in hand.

Especially when I have a couple of Para-Ords's and a Springfield XD that shoot well enough for me to place very highly in several cometitions. And 3K is low balling some of their "products".
IIRC correctly they do not even give any accuracy guarantee. At least Les Baer does that at a lower cost to boot.
