I know there is a section for ammunition, but this is mainly directed toward the Kahr CW9. I have been carrying Federal HST 124gr +P in my CW9. What kind of self defense ammunition does your CW9 like? Anyone else use HST? Or another of my favorites is Hornady Critical Duty. I know the best thing to do is try a lot and see which is best in mine. Until the cost and availability of ammunition change, I will start with other peoples' experiences and go from there. So let's hear them.

I've been carrying Hornady Critical Duty myself for the CW9. I also carry Hornady 140 gr XTP's in my SP101 .357 mag.

HST's work for me in the same grain weight you carry.

HST good stuff but I had good supply of Corbon DPX and 124+P Gold Dot. The gun likes both.

124+P Gold Dot JHP's work well, I use them in the G-Lock also.
I'm partial to the 124 Gold Dot JHP's also but I'll grab HST's or Winchester Ranger-T or Remington Golden Saber; all preferably in 124 gr but whatever they have; if the price is right.

I use 124 gr. Hydra Shoks, in my "pocket" 9mm, it's not a Kahr, but the barrel is about the same length. I went to some Walmarts friday, and found 1 box of .40 Federal Personal Defense. No 9mm of any kind. Very little ammo of any kind, except shotgun shells, and a few rifle calibers.

I use the hornady critical duty right now. I am super accurate with it. My usual carry is the Speer gold dot but can't find it right now. I have a k9, not a CW9 but the barrel size is the same. I personally do not use the +p because I can shoot quicker follow ups without it. I also think the k9 and cw9 have a long enough barrel to requie the +p. I also like the ranger T in 147 grain when I can't find the gold dot. I do use +p in my mk9 due to shorter length

another one for the critical duty and cd +p also. like the previous post I shoot better with CD than other types of ammo.

reliability, reliability, reliability, after that part, all the above rounds mentioned are super. BG will never be able to tell the difference IMO. Just sayin

My CW9 had several FTF issues durring break-in using cheap Walmart ammo. Both Winchester White Box, and Federal gave me the same problems. I used a box of Winchester Ranger +P and had not one single issue.

Mine shoots critical duty well. Man, I did some test and that bullet flattens out like a pencil eraser.when it hits.

Tell me about it...you see these guys on the internet examining, debating and testing every aspect of different SD ammo with regards to penetration and how well it rips up fake "tissue" and whatnot...give me a friggin' break! :2rolleyes:
If it goes bang, the BG isn't going to care if it's one brand or another. Any of them are gonna rip someone up but good.

I trust all premium quality ammunition to perform well. I am juat wondering what feeds and ejects well through the CW9. I had a Beretta Nano that was partial to Hornady TAP 147gr. Other ammo was not as reliable through it. As soon as I can get some more types, I plan on trying them out, but until then I was just wanting to hear what everyone else uses.
I have tried a number of different JHP rounds in my CW9 and the gold dots work well but the hydra shoks work the best with no feeding problems through 100 rounds. Cant afford to do much more trial and error so I will be sticking with the hydra shoks.

New to the forum but thought I would chime in.
I am partial to the 147 gr Federal HST or Speer Gold Dot. Right now I have the 147 gr. Golden Sabers as they are very easy to find right now in my area.
My favorite is the 147 gr Federal HST but I cannot get my hands on some to save my life.
