I have a pm9 I purchased used a few months back that I have decided to keep after all.

I paid $425 - it is the blackened slide standard sights. Has been reliable for me since day 1. Factory test cartridge envelope shows this unit shipped oct 2005

I am looking at getting night sights.....but I realized for around $200 more than I can sell this one for I can buy a brand new one with nights sights from factory.

Would it be worth it? Does the newest model offer any significant improvements over older design!

Mine is 100% reliable and worried I might be playing with fire messing with that.

no difference in the new models and what u have. My two pmj9 ARE OVER 5 YEARS LD, BOTH ERFECT, i WOULDNOT TRADE THEM FOR A NEW ONE PERIOD. i NW KNOW MY TWO KAHRS EXTREMELY WELL, AND night sights are nice but not sumpin I just gott have either. One pMJ9 has it the utter does not.

If it was my kahr I would send the slide int9o kahr anbd let them install the night sights of ur choice and be hapy about it. Why chance it on a new gun being as totally as reliable as the one u have now. If it ain't broke don't fix it, goes a long way in this case.

a good local smitty could also install the nights sights and maybe save u a few bucks but again IMO,U can just send the slide to kahr regular mail for about $8 and get it back done correctly and any fokk ups that is kahrs fault, they will stand behind it. Maybe a smitty might damage ur slide and b.s. u about it and not stand behind it like kahr would. Just sayin. U ask, I give u my opinion, YMMV.

keep what you have... because....

the $200 will be more like $300 when you get done breaking in the new pistol - ammo's expensive right now

You can't wear out a PM9, as jocko can testify with over 32,000 thru his. Night sights are overrated. JMO.

I agree with all of the above posters who advocate for keeping what you have. If the desire is there to add night sights, find some way to have them put on. It will save you in the long run.

Keep it. I ordered my pm9 with night sights only because I prefer the 3 dot sight over the standard bar-dot. Night sights don't help you see your target, they are more useful at finding your gun in the dark.

Good point. Just buy some sights and install em'. I was able to find some Meprolight TruDots for my Glock 26 on Amazon for $88.50. Just do a little online searching.

I hate night sites and the kahr style(really sig) is my personal favorite by alot. Three dots mess with my eyes and make me cross eyed. I would never do that. Maybe the novak rear and fiber optic front would be good for me but I like the stock ones and have those on my combat pistol. Night sights wear out and are a bigger dot, not a upgrade imho. Id get a crimpson trace and call it good. I can see fine at night I put my laser on his face and booyaa no more bad guy. Also, the new ones are alittle longer and uglier too, not as blocky like a glock. Keep what you got! Dont play with fire. People would love a known reliable pm9.

I'm going to disagree a bit on the new/old sights. There is an old slide sight cut and a new one. Not sure of the dates, but when you take your slide off, if there is a dimple next to the striker spring it takes new style sights. No dimple -- then the older style.
Kahr's website explains this. Choose you model, the scroll down for parts until you get to the sight section. You'll see there.

As you can see from the various comments, there are a lot of different opinions. If it was me, I would keep the PM9, order night sights from Kahr and have a local gun smith install them.

I forgot to ask is this older PM9 the blunt nose version. u can see the difference in teh front of the slides by looking at the pm models and cm models today, the front of the slide sides are beveled, where as the blunt nose is glock style. If u go the blunt, nose, IMO keep that sucker it is the necest of all kahrs IMO. a tad smaller thant he new PM9's today a tad lighter also. My favorite by far.

thats why I own two of them..

I have the XS big dots on mine and love them. Can't think of a better fast acquisition sight for a self defense pistol. Bring the gun up til the big meatball covers what you want to shoot and pull trigger - dead on every time. I ignore the back post entirely - your brain aligns the dot with post automatically.

keep a proven shooter and just install a front tritium sight, big dot preferably.

Is there no need to get the xs rear sight or will the front alone work fine with stock rear?
