10/22 barrel with internal silencer?

I saw a barrel at my lgs for 700+ dollars. It was for a 10/22 and it had a built in silencer. Wouldn't you have to have a special stamp to purchase it? I'd like to get one of those new break down models. They look nice!

Depends also on local laws, here in Minnesota we can't even get federal stamp. Our state knows what is best for us.

I don't think there is anywhere in the U.S. you can have a suppressor without a tax stamp.

If your state allows it, you'd still have to get the federal stamp for it.

Not sure if a barrel like that would fit the 10/22 take down model. It's the same mount at the receiver most likely, but past that, the twist on design probably would not let you do that. The barrel on the take down model is a two piece design...one piece is the part that has the mount into the receiver, the other part is the twist on full barrel that mates to part that mounts to the receiver.

The silenced barrel would require you to take that take down receiver adapter thing off and then mount it.

Even if you did that, an integrally silenced barrel is probably a 'bull barrel' sized barrel and might require a different stock to fit (i.e. the standard ruger stock might not accommodate it. Maybe even more so the case w/ the take down stock. It's made to accommodate the take down 2 piece barrel.

And yes, a suppressor requires the tax stamp. Period!

Thanks, I'll check them too. I have been surpressing the urge to buy a supressed rimfire for a while. I like the "no can" look of these type barrels.

While I like the integral look I would prefer a can that can be moved from firearm to firearm.
