P 380 - Magazine comes loose

I have a P 380, broke it in w 250 rounds over 2 range sessions. A few ftf & stvepipes, but that was expected. Have cleaned it 3-4 times. Went back to the range a few weeks later & have an issue with the magazines coming loose after 1 or 2 rounds. Any thoughts?

The magazine catch may be defective... been there done that... Kahr sent me another and all is good. The bearing edge on the retention "shelf" kind of rolled and wouldn't hold mags in. Unload the pistol and lock the slide back. Get a good light and look at the "shelf" that holds the mag in place. See the top picture and post here

Catch in first picture is defective. In the second, I had already tried to remove the "rolled over" edge on the left one. The third picture is of the cheap Harbor Freight pick set... usually from $1 to $4, depending on sales and coupons... all of those prices could be at the same time depending on what flier you look at! The lower one with the right angle is perfect to get the spring out of the way and hold it while you remove and replace the magazine catch.

An email and picture of the bad catch to Jay at Kahr Customer Service will get you a replacement part on the way. Include your pistol serial#.

Thanks for the advice. Other than this issue, it's a great little gun.

I had this issue with my second P380 last year. It started out with a bad extrctor and had to go back to Kahr... then the mag catch was bad. Defective parts happen, but Kahr will send you another. Mine's fine now, both of them. The first is in my avatar, and on my hip as I type.
