I kind of thought the Jr. ROTC had become a thing of the past with all this crazyiness of kids being suspended for have "gun shaped" pop tarts or pieces of paper, but I guess the JROTC is still alive in this part of the country. They even allow them to drill with dummy rifles.

Nice to have a little good news on guns and schools for a change.

Nice to see. I guess the liberals haven't taken over Kansas yet.
JROTC programs exist in all 50 states. California, New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts included.

Is the JROTC program advertised or promoted in the schools? I ask because I've never seen them advertised or promoted, but I've seen several colleges drop the ROTC program.

Talking to my son a bit earlier I asked him about his JR ROTC class and the availability of full on M14 rifles. Most of the M14s were de milled BUT they do have some full on and ready to rock. He said the drill team or shooting team even got to handle them now and again. They used them on special occasions and the shooting team went to Ft Benning and shot them a time or three. But that was a few years ago... I see no reason for that to have changed.

I have two full auto M14's in my armory affectionately called Thelma and Louise.
I refinished the stocks with many coats of polyurethane for a high gloss finish and we use them for parade rifles.
We take them to the range from time to time, they are just a blast to play with.
I'd love to have one of my own, even a semi auto. At least when I feel the urge I can go back and fondle them.

Oh I am so jealous! You ever get any of that AFzelia lay stuff in yet? My GP100 just looks all sad around them wonderful beautiful SP101s. Maybe I should load up another heavy box and send it in your direction to jog that memory a bit.
I need to get one of the knife makers to come by and show me how to make a cheapo forge then I plan on grabbing a leafe spring or three and churnin out a Kukri of my berry berry own. I also really really need to forge or something a neck knife for my wife. I am thinkin something bejeweled that wont appear to be a knife at all until she needs it. About 4 inches long in the shape of a cross with the sheath. She also wants a necklace made from a nickle plated 9mm case and some bullet case bottom earings.

They are in my region, Muggsy. I can't speak for the rest of the country, though.
