I'm a new kahr owner. I've had my cw45 for a month now. Been to the range 3 times firing a total of 475 rnds thru it. On my first range trip I fired 150 rnds with 2 FTE's. My second time out I fired 225 rnds with 7 FTE's. My third time out was 14 FTE's out of only 100 rnds fired! I've tried several brands of ammo (winchester, remington, federal, blazer, brass max). Have had FTE's with all of em. I have downloaded the clean & lube diagrams and followed them to the letter but it is not helping. Another issue I'm having is that when they spent cases do eject, about 50% of them will hit me in the forehead! Even had a couple go down the back of my shirt. Other than sending it back to kahr, is there anything else I can try myself? I am VERY irritated with this gun. I've also had 2 other people ( experienced shooters ) fire this gun & they had FTE's too, so its not just something I'm doing/causing. My buddy who I go shooting with has a glock 23 with over 1300 rnds thru it & hasn't had one single failure. That's how a gun should work! Anyhow, if anybody has some ideas, other than sending it back, id really appreciate your help.

There are a lot of things you could do, but none that wouldn't adversely affect your warranty. You could replace the extractor and extractor spring and polish the chamber. I don't understand why people are reluctant to send their guns back to the manufacturer when they fail to function properly under warranty. Call Kahr, get a prepaid mailer and send the gun back. Let them worry about it.

I'm not real impressed with mine, either. Kahr is very easy to deal with, however, just call them and they will send you a prepaid label to FedEx it back to them.

By FTE, do you mean a stovepipe?

@ mbogo, not getting any stovepipes. The shell casing is still parallel with the chamber. The primer side about 1/2 way above the slide while the open end is hitting the top of the chamber. A couple have been angled down to where I need to eject the mag in order to clear the round.

harborstroz.
I see you "have downloaded the clean & lube diagrams and followed them to the letter", but was wondering if you disassembled the slide and gave all the extractor parts (including the tunnel) an inspection/cleaning?

Greg
BTW, welcome to the forums:)

send it back, email kahr , attn. Jay state ur case and what itis doing ad ask them to issue a ickup for the gun. get it fixed right and u will be a much happier camper. Bel polite when emailing them and u willget alot further. I realize it s never nice when it happens to you the wner but it happens and that is what u have a warranty for..

@ gb6491 - I did take the whole top end apart, cleaned everything (including the extracter channel). I didn't notice anything to be worn or damaged, no unusual burrs, all machining looks complete and well done, as far as I can tell. Thanks for the welcome! @jocko - That's prob what I will end up doing. I don't have any issues with sending it back, other than I know I'm really gonna miss it! I do really like this gun. It fits my hand perfect, shoots very accurate & very controllable. You are right, it is never nice when problems arise from something you have very high hopes for. I'm just hoping it becomes reliable as it will be my everyday ccw, hopefully... I know the whole gun scene is crazy right now, but does anybody have a guess / experience on how long I could expect to get it back from Kahr?
