your MK9 barrel is made by Lothar in Germany and it is stainless. come s o kahr in 3ft already polygonal rifled bores bar blanks and then kahr does the total machinging operation and I am pretty sure then it is sent to an outsidfe vender that does the nickel plating of the entire barrel. a very very high quality premium barrel..

Jocko:
Thanks so much for the information ,I am getting my MK9 Magna Ported and had wanted Magnaport to jewel the barrel which shows by the ejection port which the said they don't reccomend doing. I am now trying to get them to polish the whole barrel. I may have to do it myself but am affraid of burning the barrel using a dremmel. Any information would be appreciated.

I had them jewel my chamber on the outside when I had my done and it didn't last very long, I thik the constant contact with the underside of the slide and my polis9hing it after shooting it with a 600+ grip paper, that jeweling just wore off. I think it cost me $50 to have it done and now I can say it was a total waste.
You can polish that entire barrel with flitz and use no dremel, just alittle longer to do it. or get osme 600+ grip auto paper and polish it, ur not gonna burn or damage nuttin. The dremel will work faster and not hurt anything if u use their cotton polshng cone but again 600?8j00?1000 grit paper will do the same thing.
Once u get it ported and after any shoot and when u clean the barrel u will notice some burn marks around the barrel ports, just take some 600+ paper and it will just rub right off, or just leave it be, doesnt hurt either way.
Ur gonna piss away some good bucks fo r them to polish that barrel, trust me on that..
One thing I will recommend to u is, be very sure the gun is now reliable and functioning like it should. the last thing u want to do is spend good money to get this done and maybe the gun is acting up and has to go back to kahr and then for some reason they need to repalce the barrel or slide etc, and u are then out that money.
