I just received this pocket holster for my Kahr PM9. I've not much experience with pocket holsters, but I was wondering if it was typical for the holster to leave the end of the barrel exposed? My only other pocket holster is for a Seecamp, and on that holster, the holster protects the end of the barrel.

Just looking for opinions...

I would not make a holster that way.
I looked at the makers website and the pics show the muzzle covered. I would just contact the maker and tell/show him what you have and give him a chance to correct your issue.

In my inexperienced opinion, pocket holsters should also be designed to stop pocket lint and debris from getting in the grooves and parts of your pistol, so I agree that the barrel should be covered.

Uncle Mikes #4. Cost about seven bucks and works great.

I have tried a number of pocket holsters for my PM9, but so far my favorite has been the DeSantis Nemisis.

If a pistol does not have the muzzle covered and fall away with little or no effort when pistol is drawn it is no good no matter how nice it looks. That one looks like it hangs on to the pistol.

+1 on the Uncle Mikes...I've tried many pocket holsters and for me the Uncle Mikes works best and prints the least not to mention it costs far less than the big name makers....I think the reason I like it is that it's made straight across on the bottom muzzle end as opposed to gun shaped like some of the others...The flat wallet shape keeps the pistol more straight up and in the same position in my jeans pocket so I don't have to fumble with finding the pistol grip to draw....Try one and I think you will agree and if you hate it no big deal, you aren't out but a few bucks....

Or send it back and have Beardog make you a proper one. I don't pocket carry, never have and never will but I don't like the idea of the muzzle sticking through.

Not right.

desantis works great for me. Uncle Mikes #3 just as good. I hve some leather ocket rigs, all do cover the muzzle though, but I just don't like um a smuch as the above two mentioned. There are some other good soft thin pocket makers out there to. One is a retired cop who makes a super rig. guys love um. can't remember his name but he is good, low priced. At my age I don't likethe leather rigs for I am not sure I have as much time left for thgose leather rigs to loosen up and conform. where as the above mentioned conform immediately. Just sayin

Think of the poor cow. His clock already stopped ticking. Course your probably immune to animal feelings what with you horse relationship and all.

Thanks for the input. It didn't seem right to me, but I wanted to get another opinion before I spoke up. I contacted the the maker, and he's offered to remake it to cover the muzzle.

I really like the leather - it's much thinner and pockets better than the Blackhawk holster I picked up for around $10.

Thanks.

When I pocket carry, I like the Desantis Super Fly, it actually stays in pocket when you draw....not like some others I have had that come out with the gun.

I wouldn't buy a pocket holster with a barrel exposed.

Nor would I buy a leather one with all the sticky options. Speaking of which Ace Case has added some pocket holsters. http://acecase.com/ undercutting some of the other prices.

My favorite for my PM40, covers the muzzle, very thin, no print-through at all.

Uncle Mike's #3 in the pocket holster for the PM9 is perfect!! The guide on their site says #4 but it is too big and you cannot get a good grip when in your pocket for draw. Brought the #4 back to my LGS and swapped it out for the #3. Can't go wrong!

Bottom end of a closed holster can get nasty. I suppose the PM/CM 9/40
slide system might be more sensitive than others? I doubt a little fuzz
should make it not go bang. Some attention to cleanliness of your pant
pockets is good enough for me. Open holster is not a show stopper for me.

I clean my pockets out. Second you can put a large cotton patch (for gun
barrel cleaning) over the end. The reason holsters leave barrel open, weight.

Great thread. I'm going to try a leather one that has a square so gun
does not print. However pocket is lower on my list of carry system.

My carry #1 system is a leather pancake holster high and tight on my
right side. It is concealed by loose tee and then open button up kaki shirt
or jacket.

Have a Hedley holster and mag pouch for my PM9 which I really like.

Blackhawk Sportster size 4 works wonders for me. Made of neoprene-like material that grabs the inside of your pocket so only the weapon comes out. Cost all of $9 & change at my LGS. Highly recommend it.

I've made most of my own holsters and there are several things I see wrong with yours.

First: on a pocket holster the muzzle should be covered for reasons stated above.
Second: a leather pocket holster should have the rough side of the leather facing out and the smooth side in so that the gun comes out easily and the holster grabs your pocket and stays in
Third: he's got the holster boned tightly around the gun particularly the ejection port. The fit should be loose and not form fitted so that the gun draws without taking the holster with it.

Remora pocket holsters are inexpensive and are very tacky so only the gun comes out when you draw. It can also be used for IWB if you want to switch it up.
