Ok so this a NEW CW40. I bought it last week and ran 200rds through it. I just pulled her apart to check something out and noticed these scars on the right hand side of the feed ramp. RED CIRCLE IN MY PICTURE

And some 'chips' in the barrel lug, also right hand side. GREEN CIRCLE

My question is, Should I send these to Kahr and ask for thier input or are these 'issues' 'non-issues' Ive owned many pistols, but never had any issues like this before.

Any and all input is welcome!

I would try to "tone down" the red-circled irregularities. You might want to consult with Kahr, though, and send these pictures. The diving rounds hit that RIGHT side of the ramp and you could make it worse.

I have one small nick in the ramp of my CW9 on the right side but it is only one small nick from what I remember. Need to look at it again.

Wynn has given you sound advice.

If it were my pistol, and the 200 rounds through it were trouble free, I'd be inclined to not worry about either area (though I might smooth done the red circled spot).
The green circled area appears to be some loss of the nickle plating; both of my Kahrs have nickle loss on different areas of their barrels, but performance has seemingly not been affected on either.

Still, if you have any doubts, contact Kahr as Wynn suggests.

Regards,
Greg

sure if that barrel lug area comes into contact with anything. to me that is a nuttin thing. Theruffness on the feedramp (realy the right side) I would say it not a normal thing but again u shot 200 round sthorugh it and toning/smoothing kthat area alittlw with some fine j600+ grit paper sure won't hurt a darn thing. Not sure either if any part of the round makes contactin that area. Ur call to make to, but for meif it aiin't broke, don't fix it. U hae 5 years warranty so it is not like u have to do it immediatley or lose all either

Ur photo looks good enought to send to kahr for evualation. If replacement is needed more than likely u should be able to just send the barrelto them and not the entire gun, but again kahr will tell u what to do if they feel the need to see it. We canonly advise u, kahr WILL TELL YOU.:Amflag2:

Well I wouldn't say they were trouble free, every mag after ~60 rounds or so had a last round Failure to return to battery.

Ive outlined this in my shooting report here:

www.kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=17932

Aside from that. I emailed Jay last night. He promptly emailed me back and said neither of the circled areas should cause malfunctions. He offered to fix them if I felt they were unsightly or if was worried about them. simply send in the barrel with reference to our talk and a letter explaining the areas. No big deal.

I plan to run the gun as is for a while and see where she goes from there. If she runs without issue I will be taking the scars down with some sandpaper and forget I even wrote this :o)

Thanks for you help! You guys are awful helpful,

Brian

My CW9 has the same scars where the red circle is, but it shoots flawless, so I never worried about it. I eventually might smooth it out, but I think it's fine.

I just took my CM9 down and inspected the barrel. I have no issues what-so-ever with the edge of the feed ramp or lug with about 1,000 rounds through my gun. If it were my gun I let the manufacturer determine whether or not there's a problem. Remember, your life may depend on its proper function.

shootin it outta tell u everything u want to know. U couldhave a perfect barrel and it can be a bad one, so until u shoot it, hold off on the judgement part. Perfection is in the eyes of the beholder and if it goes bang every time then IMO u have achieved perfection.

Just my two cents. the opinions ur gonnaget here will probalby confuse u more than to be of any real help IMO. Just sayin

Yup, I've talked to Kahr (their response is stated in a previous post) and I've decided to shoot it. If I have problems with it in the future, that's why I have a warranty.

For what its worth, I've already cleaned the feed ramp up. Pretty much unnoticeable.
