Well my sight installation tools came in Monday and I started tinkering a bit after midnight, I guess.

I ordered the sights from the Glock Store in San Diego and they debited my CC on the 15th, but didn't ship until the 28th... never told me a thing about delayed shipping or that that had finally shipped. I emailed twice with no answer, but they're finally here.

I watched Magill's video on the use of the "Sight Master" and it seemed like it was going to be a piece of cake. I knew the front sight wouldn't be a problem and the Front Sight Take Down Tool is a must with the 3/16" thin-walled socket for the hex-head screw that holds the sight on. The factory sight screw was a little closer to the front of the frame, but the tool worked fine. The Trijicon screw is a little further back with a tad more room. I left the FS alone until I got the rear on... less chance of damage.

The Sight Master works but it could be better. I couldn't use the slanted side of the pusher as much as I would have liked. I tried to take it off by backing the large bolt out, but the last 1/2" or so is too hard... buggered a bit to keep it on I guess. So I had to use the straight part on the very bottom of the side that fits into the dove tail. I had to use my flat whetstone a lot to take some material off the front base side and some off the bottom. It was a real b!tch to get in and I had to make half a dozen or more attempts before I finally got that danged thing in. I don't seem to have damaged anything and the next time will be easier. The rear sight "foot" is a LOT bigger than it needs be and I had to really work at getting it in the dovetail, so I DON'T expect it to FALL OUT... even if you hit it with a BFH!

The front was much easier and I used a little medium strength thread locker from the China Store.:D There is a little wiggle room before you screw in the hexhead screw, so you might have to loosen it and reposition the FS.

I took some pictures in the light and in the dark, trying to focus on the front and then the rear sights. One thing I did notice was that the orange outlined front sight doesn't seem to be as bright as the yellow-outlined ones on my XD45. The orange is darker, I guess. I'll have to wait until I get to the range to see how these work. i think I got them on pretty straight... using the TLAR method.

First picture is the "old" Glock sights... plastic with a little metal in the rear sight. Second is the Glock FS Take Down Tool with the 3/16" socket on one end and the punch on the other. Then from the front and the rear with focus on the rear, then the front.

Right side of the pistol, and then the "Sight Master" $59.95, and the FS Tool is $19.95 less 5% discount and plus USPS Priority Mail, the total was $94.25. It beats banging away at $140 worth of Tritium gas in little glass vials sights with a hammer and brass punch!

Now some photos in the dark. It's hard to get things still in the dark while holding the pistol in one hand and the camera in the other... in a hurry.:D

I focused on the rear, the front, and then "charged" the front sight's photoluminescent paint and focused on that. As I said, I think the yellow is brighter at night.

I have the Ameriglo version on my Shield. The U shaped rear and orange front is very easy to pick up even without glasses.

I was kind of disappointed with the orange not being as enhanced in the dark, as the yellow FS.

Nice work and write up Wynn! Thank you for taking the time and putting in the effort to bring that to us.:)

340pd,
The Ameriglo sights look like they fit on the Shield well. I have their "Hack" set on my XD-S and like them. They certainly work better on it than the Trijicon HDs that the SA Custom Shop installed (pistol shot low with them). I need to post that HD set for sale. They should work fine on a SIG with matching sight numbers and I'l let them go cheap.

Regards,
Greg

I just wish that they made some for our Kahrs. I want them for my P40! I still need to test these and figure out what works for Wifey. Her near vision is terrible and I think she really needs something that she can see. I need to drag her to the range, though. She has been so busy with her job!

There's a gun show next weekend. I think it's a third show from the one that was across town at the Armory a few months ago... pitiful, but in this location they used to have the biggest and best show until the Shriners got greedy and started charging $3 to park on top of an increase to $8 at the door for the show... that was supposed to prevent that! That show moved to the Convention Center and is the biggest and best.

Then there's the secondary show at the Fairgrounds 23/24 March. I'm thinking that I'll get a chance to get some more goodies for my Glocks... er, OUR Glocks. I want to see what's available for triggers at the show. The next "best show" isn't until June! I'm not sure that things won't change for the worse by then!

Well, I've gotten this pistol and a few mags loaded up for the range! I Loaded my 3 GL22 15-rounders and 8 of my 13-rounders, leaving 4 mags and one round left over. I'll get a box of their ammo!:D

I sure love the MagLULA... have two large and the Baby. It's easy to get the rounds depressen and all of the way to the rear in the magazine... one and all!

I loaded the 15's first and then was wondering what the heck when the 4th filled sooner than expected. I did get to 12 on one 13 and couldn't get the last in. Sight/count hole was empty, so dumped them out and started over, getting 13 this time.

I'll just have to load the range box... shouldn't take too long! 200 rounds and I'm carrying a box of 50 180-gr Bonded Remington GS, just in case. I'm packing my P40, but not to shoot today.

I have the orange and the yellow. I prefer the orange, easier to see in daylight for me.

Another "boring" day at the range!:D I bored lots of holes in the targets!

I finally had a malfunction, too! I had three leftover rounds after my last reloads and decided to try +1 rounds. I stepped up to fire and my magazine fell out into the firing range floor! I got a broom and retrieved it and made sure that I seated it properly THIS time! I learned something... the Glocks just won't malfunction on their own... you and Murphy can help, though!:D

The sights seem okay. My first round was DEAD Center at 7 yards... shoulda quit... went downhill after that, but I did use more of the target!:D

I had the camera videoing the targets this time. I was trying to finish up getting stills from my first trip to the range with the G23C, and went to bed after Wifey got up this AM! I'll get some photos from that some time, but got to start dinner now! Wifey's been wanting some of the New York Garlic Bread Sticks, so I got some of that when I checked ammo at the 2nd Walmart... unloading a truck, but might be 11PM or tomorrow morning before stuff hits the shelf.:( The first one had a few boxes of .45 and .380, but it was too high for me, and I want some more 9mm and .40! That stuff was $19 to $21 or so! I left it for someone who really needs it.

I got tired of chasing around online looking for 9mm and .40 FMJ. I bit the bullet and ordered the TSG .22 Conversion Kit from CMC:

As you can see, this is about the cost of my latest Glock after FFL fee, but I expect that I can save the price of a few cases of 9mm and .40 very quickly and recoup what I spent on this. I think that Wifey will approve... lower recoil and cost.

I just hope the Federal Value Pack 525 ammo will work with this kit. CMC and everyone else were out of the cheaper kit at $275. I liked the threaded version, anyhow, and might look into a suppressor... since I have several threaded pistols now.

I got two of the ammo-can deals from Cabelas(?) January last year with 4 VP525's in their plastic ammo cans, and maybe free shipping for about $80 each!

Now I "need" a threaded barrel... or TB version of the .22... and a "muffler"...:(

I'll do a "show and tell" post when I get the kit!
