There's a new question on many medical forms; Do you own a GUN?

How do you answer?

I feel it's an invasion of privacy but I don't want to make a big deal about it for fear of being sent to anger management class or worse!
I just say sure, doesn't everybody.

I'd just put Can't remember. Or yes but I don't know where it is.

Or maybe the best would be yes, would you like to see it.

That would be my approach ... if a question shouldn't be asked ... it shouldn't be answered.

Hubby and I talked about using something like that.
I brought up the topic to give my Husband some potential answers.
For me it is a none issue since both of my Doctors shoot and we talk about it from time to time.

Funny being in a wheelchair they always ask me if I'm abused by anyone at home. I always ask if nagging is considered abuse. Usually get abused by a head slap as the wife is usually with me.

That's funny I usually back hand my husband in the shoulder. Other people have even asked me to back hand him.
Like the time when the check out lady asked if we wanted the milk in a bag and he said no leave it in the carton!.....She asked me to smack him, and as we were leaving she wanted me to smack him again.
She knew him in high school and apparently he hadn't changed!!

Answer: None of your business.

Unfortunately either of these responses will indicate 'Yes', unless you answer all questions with 'NOYFB'. Since it IS none of their business, and has no bearing on your medical care (unless you have lead poisoning...), is it wrong to just put 'No'? I don't think so.

put NO, since it is absolutley none of their business. That's like asking if you own a speed boat, or a hang glider. Its potentially dangerous but still none of their business.

None of their business. I'm under counted but vote 2A at every election.

Reminds me of a time I took my mother to the doctor for her pre-op appointment. The nurse asked, "Do you drink?" She replied, "Yes." The nurse then asked, "How much?" She replied, "As much as I want." Ended it right there. I was sitting in the corner trying not to pass out holding my breath to keep from laughing.

Two people you never lie to... your lawyer and your doctor. A rule I live by. I don't care about my doctor knowing I have/carry a gun. No big deal to me. I don't think my doctor care one way or the other either.

Sadly I doubt the doctor even sees the questions or answers. Usually a nurse that ask them and then they probably go directly to Waffen SS headquarters Attn: Take your guns r Us.

To the specific issue of the medical offices asking, I've never had that happen to me.

However, my nephrologist & my GP (husband & wife) know the truth because I carry all the time. They are good folks, believe like us & we're all members of the same church. If my doctor personally asked me, I'd probably talk. If a clerk pushed a form at me, I'd leave it blank just like I leave the SSN field blank.
