Hi all! First post here.
I just put about 350 rounds through my new P380 and I think 200 smacked me right in the forehead. I know it's still in its break in period but...ouch. So, has anyone else had this issue? If so what was the fix? I'm shooting Winchester White Box 95 grain ammo. I know these little guns can be fussy about ammo but everything else seemed to work fine. I'm guessing this is an extractor issue but wanted to get some feedback from you all.
I did a search and didn't find much on the site.
Thanks!

Could be the shape of the rim on the Winchester cases. Try another brand?

Wedon't hear to much about that type of thing with kahrs.I think I would try what cokeman suggested first. thenmayb elet anutter shooter shoot the gun to seeif he can duplicate what ur getting. Sometimesit could bejust a simplse stand change or head position etc. Last resort would be to email kahr, attn Jay. state ur issue sna asktheir advice .U ave enough rounds down range that the recoil springs should be perfect and their designed set has taken place. Some people do aittle filngon the ejector arm, but I guess I would say not to do that unless ur goodat doing that stuff.Sometimes a very tight extractor spring can cause what ur getting to. Again sumpin that unless u know what and how to shorten the extractor springs a tad, I would advise not doin it.
Not much lep here I know. are u a right or left hand shooter?? Lefty's are more prone to what ur getting..

I had issues with my p380 during break in. wwb flat nose would not feed properly. I also had casings hitting me in the head. the 1st 100 rounds I used fiocchi 95 gr rn fmj.
2nd federal 95 gr fmj
3rd buffalo bore +p fmj hp. 4th wwb flat nose 95 gr fmj.
Finally after 400 rounds and proper prep and lube after each 100 rounds, the gun is running flawlessly and no casings int he head anymore.
Hang in there. It will come around. Also I noticed that when I was limp wristing the gun, the casings would hit me in the head more often. Have another shooter try it out for you as well. I did and I corrected my handling issues immediately and all is good.
enjoy your new gun. I certainly do......:)

The Boberg throws brass in people's face, and Mr. Boberg suggested that we take a file and round off the bottom inside corner of the ejection port. I haven't done it yet, since there isn't any 9mm ammo available to practice with, but I intend to try that. I don't see why it wouldn't work on a Kahr.
This page shows a picture of where to round off the ejection port. The part in red is where to round off the port.

Thanks All!
I'm definitely not limp wristing it because this is the first thing I thought of. I'll keep putting rounds through it and see if that fixes things. I'm rally happy with the size and quality of this little pocket gun. Now...if I can just get it to stop smacking me in the face we should get along famously. Any other ideas are welcome.

My PM45 did that initially. I started wearing my Kahr cap with the brim pulled low. I also wear shooting glasses... real ones with the 2mm Lexan... just in case. After a few trips to Kahr for other problems, that went away. I noticed that my P40 was throwing some brass at my son's forehead.

Hey, I thought I was getting hit with my boberg brass because I shoot left handed.
Thanks for the tip!
One time I was hit sooooo hard that it took two weeks for the CUT to heal! Now I wear a hat when I shoot the boberg.

Hahaha! I got smacked in the forehead so many times yesterday that it looked like I had bad acne.

Glocktalk isn't a friendly place. I thought I would be able to look for a deal over there like on our Marketplace here. I've bought at least two pistols and a bunch of other stuff here.
Back to the "love taps"... my first experience was with my brand new PM45. It threw about 1 in 4 at my forehead... I was really ducking! I had good glasses. After the range I went to Walmart and shopped for about half an hour. When I got home and looked in the mirror, my forehead was covered with black marks... like some one had put a whole pack of cigarette out on my forehead. I just wonder what the Walmart Shoppers thought.
That's when I started wearing my Kahr cap with the brim as low as possible... in addition to good shooting glasses. It doesn't do that any more, but the Springfield Champion 1911 might... did to my son... with no hat... and shaved head! I made a movie, too!

I had thought it was the P40, but noticed at PB that it was the 1911.

I have about 250 rounds through my new P380 and all the casings landed about 5 feet to the 4 o'clock position.
Both Fiocchi and Tul-Ammo Brass gave me issues. I tried about 10 rounds of each before I gave up on them because I couldn't even get them to feed into the chamber properly. It was as if the extractor was mounting up with the casing goofy while the slide was pushing it out of the magazine. I realized that the rim on the casing of these two are the same and are shaped different from the American made rounds that worked well for me (Magtech, Blazer Brass, Federal Hydrashok). I've looked at Winchester white box rounds though and they appear to have the same style rim as the ones that worked for me.

Just open your mouth and you won't have to pick up your brass later.

Took her to the range again and I'm still getting BTF but it seems to be a bit less. Hat with the brim pulled low was a big help. I'm going to shoot some more of the WWB out of it to see if the issue goes away. I'd like to try another brand but .380 is hard to come by these days.
I just ran the new PM9 black through it first 200 and other than a few issues with the first 50 or so things seem fine.

how about letting someone else shoot it to ee if they can get the same results., R U a lefty or righty??? Find u a good defense round and test it our for reliabiity and this issue also. If it doesnt improve alot I would email kahr, attn: jAY AND RUN UR CONCERNS BY HIM AND SEE WHAT THEY SAY. A tight extractor ccan cause this also but these little guns are so small that everythig has to be right, including the shooter. For me the fact that the gun is working perfect otherwide, would probalby want to tell me to not mess with it for awhile yet..
