I was told by a holster maker (whos name will remain uknown, for now) that Crimson Trace would not be releasing any new blanks for holster makers to make new holsters because they want people to buy their holsters. I am not sure this is true but thought this wouold be a good place to ask, and see if anyone else has heard this. It does not make alot of sense as they wont give out a blank but they dont have a holster to fit my P380 w/ CT on it. Wheres the love? f3

I haven't heard about this but it's reading pretty high on my BS meter. I doubt a company as popular and established as CT would pull this kind of marketing ploy. I would suspect the unnamed holster maker or a little forked tongue speak. There's a link right here to CT, why don't you ask em direct and share your finding with us. I'm sure there lots of guys and gals here that will be looking for a holster. (I retract the gals word and substitue Queen Ladies, I used that word "gals" years ago to a female on the phone, you'd of thought I called her a cheap hooker slut or something, quite put out)
As for wheres the love, I think he lives in North Carolina and answers to the name Dietrich, swell fella we like him alot.

OK. I have spoken to Crimson Trace directly and confirmed this. they are no longer releasing blanks for holster makers. I asked why and the rep did not know. I then informed them that this puts me in a bad situation because I have installed their laser on my P380 and they are not making a holster for it and are not letting another company make any either. Thats is really dumb, she was speechless. I do know of a few makers that cover the CT on the P380, but that is beyond my point, why stop giving the blanks when all it is really doing is promoting your company through other companies?? STUPID! that will make people not buy guns if there is no holster support for the pistol. Thoughts?? f3

Apple computer did the same thing in the 80s... refused to allow outside developers to make clone hardware. IBM took up the slack and their PC dominated and still dominates the market. Once Steve Jobs retook the helm about 10 or so years ago that attitude changed, but Apple almost went bankrupt a few times in the 90s. I would think that holster makers can figure this stuff out without the blanks. I'm no expert though.

They can and they will. If they have to buy a laser they will. It will just lack the price of the holster for an already pretty expensive laser. I am pretty bummer CT has decided to play ball this way. I have always recomended their product and am a fan of the laser I have. However if thet are going to make silly decision like this one I will have a musch karder time picking CT next time or recomending them to someone who will wantto carry.

Look what Armalaser is doing. Their lasers are ugly but they got it going when it comes to holsters.

Yea it turned me off on CT a bit too. What kind of company tells holster makers they cannot have blanks, then they make the laser for a certain gun and they don't even make a holster for the laser. Odd I tell you, but Hidden Holsters look pretty good and the guy said he can make the P380 w/ CT for me so I am stoked now. I found a few others (Mitch Rosen, Meco) that do as well but i think I like the hidden holster the best. f3

I sent an Email to CT asking what their thinking is.......

Here is the reply.............

Hi there RCG-

It is true that we do not send out Free Blank Grips to Holster Manufacturers. Unfrotunately sending out partial units really messes with our production inventory and build schedules. We do however offer to sell holster Manufacturers the grips and even Blue Guns with our grips on them for a special price that we feel is very generous.

We encourage holster manufacturers to make holsters for firearms equipt with our laser sights, and work well with DeSantis, Galco, and Bladetech. There are also a number of other holster manufacturerers that make custom products to fit CTC equipt firearms like K&D Holsters in Plant City Florida, Survival Sheath in Oregon, and Crossbreed Holsters in Missouri to name a few.

We are always willing to help those who need it, it is just not a free service anymore. If you care to talk about this more please feel free to give me a call. (503)783-5359.

Take care,

Hmmmmmmm...........I think when a company gets this type of thinking, it is really a shame. They begin to believe they are more important then those who support them . Oh well I own one CT laser. My next will be a different brand for certian.

I got that same email ^^^ from Kahr. I like the MR but i am really more of the Pocket carry type. Might look into one in the future. I also agree about the thinking of CT. They can have on if they will pay what "we think" is a reasonable price. Well thats one way to start nickel and diming everyone they deal with. Giving the holster makers one blank per model is not going to break their bank, it would also help sales, they would have slot of individuals who might have held off on a lser b/c of holster issues buying them b/c they can get any holster they want for it. It is really a one hand washes the other situation. Who knows? It just sounds kinda cheap, and one sided to me. f3
