View Full Version : Bigger grip for PM9 with CT laser
I have large hands and I’m trying to make the reach for the trigger longer. I'm not sure if any of the sleeves will work with the CT. I'm also wondering if I can solve the problem by padding the back of the grip, but I'm not sure how to do about doing that. Suggestions?
Thanks.

Alright, I'll wade in here where others fear to go.
The PM9 was designed as a small concealed carry handgun. If your hands are too big to grasp it properly, maybe you should get a larger series Kahr, instead of trying to make the PM9 something for which it was not designed.
I'm not trying to be a smart-a$$ here. Just truthful. This is kind of like buying a pair of shoes that are too small and stretching them to fit. Not gonna work. This isn't a Gen 4 Glock with its adjustable backstraps. An important part of purchasing a handgun is making certain it fits YOU before you buy it.
Sorry I don't have any better ideas. Maybe someone else with more knowledge of the subject will respond shortly.

I largely agree with krazman, you are making some sacrifices when you go with a gun this size. However, you can add a slip on rubber grip and trim the area with the CT meets the handle. I did that for a while and finally went with the adhesive AGrip material for better traction. It's very thin and fits under the CT but won't thicken the grip as you desire. Finally, I decided I didn't need the CT on a short range defensive pistol and I like the feel better without the CT, so I swapped out for XS big dot sights instead.

yup buy a bigger gun, u shold have figured out that part before u bought it. not beng sarcastic nor are the other posters, but ur gonna defeat ur porupose of whatur trying to do. If the gun doesn't fit you, peddle it and find one that does. Still the best pocket gun ur ever gonna find..
\work with iut for awhile, u might surprise urself.

I put a Hogue Grip on my PM9 and used a one hole punch on both sides of magazine release button and it works very well. I also put some friction tape under the Hogue Grip to make it more secure. Mine does not slip and added enough to solve the problem for me.

can you tell me why you decided to get rid of the crimson trace? i am trying to make a decision on those for my cm9 and glock27. i would appreciate any guidance you can provide.

White Cloud, I suggest you try a CT and see how you like it. I'm still on the fence and have had mine on and off the PM9 4-5 times in the past year. The things I found bothersome may not be a big deal to anyone else but here they are:
-I have a hard to find preferred holster that won't take the CT.
-They do very slightly effect the grip by taking up some space under the trigger guard. This is slight but I need all the grip I can get.
-Lots of practice with the CTs and I was getting in the habit of looking at the target instead of picking up my front sight on the draw. Might not hurt defensively but will likely hurt competition with my other guns.
-Just seem un-necessary for a short range defensive weapon that I have no trouble hitting with at 7-10 yards.
That said, I haven't sold the CTs off yet and may go back to them any time.

I feel when it comes to a life and death situation I want every advantage possible! If the laser is going to give away your position and do you more bad than good I'd say you better have more than a self defense handgun! At least a long arm and maybe a grenade or 2

DLK, there is really not much you can do about the size of the gun. Like you, I find the distance from to the trigger just a little short. But the reason I bought my PM9 is because it is very small and therefore very easily concealled.
My trigger finger sticks much further past the trigger than what is considered optimum. When I first started shooting the PM9, my shots tended to go to the left of my point of aim. I started out using the "wall drill" with snap caps to learn trigger control with my finger sticking much further around the trigger than I was used to. After much "dry fire" practice, and time at the range, my accuracy was back to normal.
After Crimson Trace came out with their laser guard sight, I added that to my PM9. I use laser sights because I want ever advantage I can get in a defensive situation. The laser sight is a great tool for dry fire practice. You can see if that laser spot moves when you pull the trigger. With practice you will be able to hold your point of aim when you pull the trigger.
DLK, If you bought your PM9 for concealled carry, you bought one of the best guns available for that purpose. My advice is to keep the PM9 and learn to shoot it using more trigger finger than you would normally use.

I'd like it noted that I am NOT arguing for/against the use of the laser. After all, I spent my hard earned money on one and have not yet decided to sell it. I just like the handling of MY gun a little better without and remained unconvinced that my need for one justifies the weaknesses I have experienced.

Ive had pretty much the same experience with my CM9 and CT laser. I liked it for a while but then it started to just feel like it was getting in the way of my grip on the gun. I took it off and the gun just felt so much more comfortable that i ended up selling the CT laser.
And to the OP, I now have a lone wolf qwik grip and love it. Feels like the perfect size for my sweaty hands, lol.
