I'm sitting here on the computer and the phone rings and it's the GS. I forgot a long time ago they put me on the list for a new S&W Shield. Well it seems like it finally came in. Now from the time they put me on the list and now I have had the oportunity to shoot a Shield. It is a nice Pistol but the truth be known, is I like my PM9 way above the Shield. So I told them to pass it on to the next guy on the list. If I buy another small 9mm pistol at all it will more than likely be the XDS 9.

Sounds like a great plan.

The XD9s is a bit larger and a few oz heavier than the kahr cw9. If you like the cm9 so much the cw9 would feel very natural. Nothing new to learn also use the same holsters iwb and mags in both

The Shield is a great gun. I love my 40, you are missing out.

I'm on a waiting list for 4 for officers here. Been close to 6 months now I reckon. Fortunately they are a lot more patient than me.

The next one I want is a colt govt. model 1911. Who knows if or when I seal the deal
My wife can rack the slide on her Shield. She can't rack my PM9. Preference depends on the shooter.

I understand what you are saying! I was hell bent on a Shield and then I shot one and it did nothing for me. I actually went home a little upset as I had been dying to have one. I crossed it off my list and moved on.

I thought about it for a minute, then thought man I do not need another 9mm pistol. So that would have meant either the Glock 26 or the PM9 would have had to go, and to be honest I'm not feeling that move at the moment. Like I said I like the Shield, but not better than the PM9 and I like the fact that the Glock 26 is a small dual stack that is a little thicker than the shield with a larger round count, but not much bigger in the other demensions. Like I mentioned the other day in another posts I do not love the Glock 26 but I can't ever seem to be able to justify parting with it either. :o The shield is just IMO anyway A gun I don't need at the moment. I doesn't fit a need for me that the PM9 or the Glock 26 doesn't fill. Plus I'm very comfortable CC and shooting my PM9. It's my EDC. So now the guy behind me on the list is happy because his Shield came in. It's all good my friends, it's all good.

I have a Glock 26 and a CM9 and i don't think the Shield would fill a need they don't cover already, probably a nice firearm though.

If I was to add another Poly 9mm pistol like the XDS 9 as mentioned it would involve a trade or sale of the PM9 or the G26. I have a few CZ's in 9mm also in various sizes, so I'm not interested in adding any more 9mm poly pistols to my collection. The only pistol I would add at the drop of a hat just because I wanted one would be the Ruger SR 1911.

Any of you old style pm9 owners ever have a problem with barrel peening? I read they had a problem with heat treating the barrels and that was the major reason for the upgrade in 2004.

Never had any trouble with my very early PM9 in 800 rounds, so I didn't send it in for the recall.
It wasn't broke, so....
Anyway, I gifted it to my son a couple years ago. He hasn't reported any problems with it.

I seriously considered a Shield 9mm.
Then a Walther PPS 9mm.
And after that the new XDs 9mm - LOL.
Seriously, my G27 with a 9mm conversion barrel is nice.
And I totally love my HK P2000SK 40 Light LEM.
I actually like a thicker grip on the little guns.
Even double stack it's about the same thickness as the slide.
And 9/10+1 gives me more confidence.
I look at my P2000SK 3.3" barreled gun and think what do I really want again???

Your absolutely right, the Shield is a nice firearm, but it will not fill a need for you that you do not have covered already.

My PM9 was made in May 2010 if I remember correctly, and I didn't buy it until early 2011, so I really don't even know what barrel problems you might be talking about. Apparently any problems where taken care of in a recall from the factory , so I guess it's a non issue since 04. What I do know is I've never had the slightest problem with mine and the PM9/CM9 is one hell of a nice CC pistol.

I'm not a Glock guy, I think the fan boys turned me off to Glocks a long time ago, but I have to admit the G26 is growing on me. As for the other Glocks they can keep them, I'll stick to CZ's.

if i didn't already own my K9 the Sheild would be very high on the list for a great single stack pistol. my buddy bought one when they first came out, i really liked it! it shot great, mag capacity was great (gun comes with 2 different capacity mags), size is great. And it's very affordable.

I just got a Shield in yesterday for one of my guys. 1 of 3 we've been waiting about 6 months for. I like the ergonomics of it, this one has a safety on it which I did not know they had.
It seems like a nice gun. Haven't had a chance to shoot it of course so we'll have to wait for that to pass any real judgement.

My 40 has safety too. Ok once you get used to it. Great shooter.

The gun you already own has a great advantage over the one you want... Yeah right.
