I've owned a P380 for about 6 months that I bought new. I love the thing and couldn't be more pleased. I friend of mine is going to buy a .380, and is looking to me for advice. My dilemma in recommending the P380 is I continue to see horror stories from disappointed owners of this gun. Are the new ones ( mines a 6XXX version) "fixed" ???:)

Most of the stuff you hear on the Internet is from people who have problems or just want to badmouth something... a lot of hearsay.

That said, I've bought two P380's two years apart and both had some problems initially, but Kahr and I fixed them with trips back to the factory and parts they sent me. Not every item of everything sold is problem free, but most are and the people don't come here to complain. I'm quite happy with MY Kahrs.

Kahrs are different... compact and very close-toleranced, requiring strong springs to operate them because of their compactness. You have to learn how to shoot them and operate them correctly, especially when taking one apart and putting it back together. Also they must be held firmly to chamber a round as well as to fire them. Holding one loosely allows some... too much... energy from the slide to be used in moving the pistol, and usually causes failures to feed... "limp-wristing".

There are many links here, especially the Kahr.com information and the all-important Take Down Video which addresses some of the important things that need to be done correctly for proper operation.

Many of the malfunctions we see here are self-induced because guys/gals did not pay attention to the manual or the Take Down Video. Inattention and ignorance of proper procedures cause a lot of "malfunctions" with new KAHR users and even some "old" ones.

This is why I try to give a lot of information to new members. I would like to point them in the proper direction in learning about their new pistol, especially if they are new to Kahrs.

You can find horror stories about ANY product online... or from people who've heard... people talking about reading on the Internet....

Thanx Wynn. Like I said, I love mine, and from reading and agreeing with your response, I'm good to recommend the P380.

thtr bugs are gone from the later P380. certainly a 100% turn around since the first year models whic were very troublesome. Kahr stood behind themn but still it pissed owners off big time. Now that is also why I think the cw380 willbe a real winner to.

It is the finest 380 on the market, when it does what it is designed for..:amflag:

as I said in my first post, mine is also flawless and I love the little BUGger enough that it's made a Kahr fan of me. I'll have a CW9 by months end. I just wanted some comments from Kahr experts like you, Jocko, and Wynn to reinforce my recommendation to my friend. :):)
