View Full Version : Slide vertical play

I just noticed that both my Kahrs, K9 and CW45, have some vertical "slop" in the slide to frame relationship. Picture a crocodile's mouth, with the jaw hinged at the grip end. The .45 caliber crocodile can open his mouth 1mm at the muzzle end. When I dry fire, he snaps his mouth shut. The barrel moves down with it, making me think that's why it seems to shoot low. All this is without a magazine inserted. On an empty mag, it's the same.

My K9 moves less, probably less than half as much. Too little to measure precisely. But my Bersa 9HC has absolutely zero movement.

Is it supposed to do this?

I noticed the same condition on my CW45 as well. I've also been wondering the same thing bout the low patterns I place...

My CM9 does the same thing if the mag isn't inserted when dry firing......if the mag is inserted it is fine. I just assumed it was normal as mine doesn't seem to shoot low.

Jay of Kahr Customer Service assures me this is normal and has "no effect on safety, functionality or accuracy and is present on all of our models." :)

Yup, mine does the same. It's a bad carpenter who blames his tools. :)
