Using an MK9 for my night stand gun right now. Before I go to bed I do a pinch-test to ensure it is still ready to go. Check for a full mag as well.
Wife doesn't muck with the gun. Am I going overboard on this or is it just good discipline?
Carl
I usually do my own pinch test in the morning, after a good hot cup of coffee.....

Never wrong to do a properly executed firearm check.
Never a doubt if you've checked it out.

If the gun is out of your sight it is wise to check it as youre doing.

my carry guns are always loaded, all the time, and in places I always keep them. The only time I check any of them is my .357 daily field gun to make sure I've swapped out the front two rounds for snake shot / hard ball (depending on need).

I gave my wife the pinch test yesterday and told her she needed to lose a few pounds. She gave me a black eye. :)

I guess I'm not sure what you referring to but it's always good to check. I'll try pinching my wife tonight and see what happens.

I'm guessing he is refering to what many people call a press check. Where they press the slide open just enough to see that a shell is indeed in the cylinder. I can not say that I do this every night but I do run my finger over the extractor (which serves as a loaded chamber indicator on a Kahr) or run a press check almost everytime I grab my gear to head out into the world, might not do it if I did one earlier and am heading back out. (with my Ruger SP101 I can just look in the gap between cylinder and frame and see the cartridges without flipping it open)

As for a pinch test on the wife... I run one of those every chance I get.
