FIRST; many thanks to all who responded to my earlier posts concerning an early K9, Jan 1995.
The K9 was recieved in better condition than I had imagined.
I've got a lot to say here, but may use other more specific KahrTalk forums to qualify.
60 rds.+, initial safety and function checks, 115gr. standard loads, fantastic; 1 stovepipe w/factory FMJ, HP perfect, includes 20+rds. of my FMJ handloads...flawless.
She's got a strong recoil spring that's for sure; hand racking the slide works fine as long as I look for FULL forward slide lockup positioning.
Trigger...goes bang just fine, quite like my sweet little wheeler.
Case distortion; none on the lip and the bases only show minor extractor marks.
LOVIN' the fit and feel of this K9; actually lusted after one for a coupla years now. Seems to be a peach. Less recoil than my P35? go figure, maybe just in the throughs of NEW LOVE. :D
Nice mahogany stocks in need of some repair came with; will be ordering the soft poly soon as a comfy substitute while I fix wood......
Please; What might you wizened Kahr lovers recommend as additions to my grip/stock order to make the shipping charges more cost effective?
1.- Factory standard recoil spring/s?
2.- guide rod?
3.- what else?
Bear in mind, this is a Jan. 1995 carbon steel version K9, and I am not yet completely familiar with what parts will not trade/fit from the current Kahr offerings.
Again, many thanks I"ll be back!

Nice post. I don't know if there will be any problem with the rubber grips fitting. make sure if you talk with Kahr that they know the serial number and so on. It seems like there was some post about wood grips not fitting one guy's pistol... the high point on the back of the grip/backstrap being different, I believe.
Unless you want to "dress it up" I wouldn't worry about the guide rod. if you want to get a spare spring, you might get that and a 5-lb spring from Wolff... cheaper and pretty fast shipping. I put 5-lb springs in all of my 7 Kahrs... one-size-fits-all and cuts one pound off the trigger pull. I bought a 3-pack and then a 10-pack.
I have an SS K9 I got new in March '1998 and it may still have the original recoil spring, but I do have a Wolff spare in case I need it. I don't think that I've put much more than 1,200 rounds through mine, but I didn't count them! I never carried mine because it was a bit heavy for my shorts. Mine came with the rubber grips and those were the best feeling grips. I put CT Laser Grips on mine and those are a firmer plastic... not as good a feel, but it's just one of my home defense pistols.
More magazines would be nice, but there are cheaper places than retail + shipping from Kahr. Ivanhoe Warehouse usually has some of the best prices and $5 on your whole order, but they've been out of a lot of things lately. Google works to find stuff or search on here, too.
Out, but: http://www.ivanhoeoutlet.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=74
I use the 8-round extended grip mags for the range and spare carry... Kahr Hi-Cap mags. Well, I have one of those in the K9 for home defense, too.

nice post. buy ur springs from wolffs gunsprings, lower in price, they make kahr springs. U might want to if u order from wolffs to order their 5# striker spring. Makes a nice dropin mod, maybe get a 3 pack of 5% stronger agazine springs. .sounds like u got a winer,
The grips should beOK I think what maybe wyn was discussing was some of the MK models, seem to have a slight difference in grips fitting etc. If ur talking to anyone at kahr, certainly run that buy them. I would think u wold get better answer by emailing Jay at Kahr and asking that, than rather talking to a CW rep, who might just not know what tey are talking about but will give u an answer anyhow.
I thinkI would treat this gun as a new gun and give it a good cleanig through out and maybe a polishing job on the feed ramp even. the hand rancking part is not needed as this gun is broken in but in all these years, I would wantto know for sure that my striker channel is spiffy clean to. Usig that little clean out hole on the bottom of the slide should be good enough, but many recommend at least once takign the slide all apart to be sure it is clean. Especially if ur thinking aobut putting in the 5# striker spring, then that would b ethe timeto do the cleaninbg of the slide internally.
again nice post..

I wasted 6 qtips inside my striker channel.... im100% sure it was Never done before. And I ran 425 through before cleaning.
+1 on the 5lb striker. And if you order a recoil, they ship a standard striker spring with it. :) win/win.
17.00$ shipped for 22lb recoil ,5lb striker,std striker springs.
A good ramp job takes no time and should be done ! As well as a general mating surface exam. If its rough or sharp un rough it or chamfer, bevel, round off the item.
I've also done work on my slide lever to allow it to pop free without tools. :) . Just a finger .
I need a ss guide rod so I can polish it .
Look forward to more range reports on your rig hangdog. ! Good luck :D

As requested...undate/range report.
Prior owner must have already worked the feed ramp for me; no FTFeed to date.
Installed the new recoil spring with the aid of a plastic ball point pen stuck into the rear end of the guide rod, perfect control for that new spring install!
I did today slip a coupla +p in the mag in order to see what difference I might notice. Nothing noticable, sounded and felt just like my handloads modeled after standard stuff that gives me good accuracy w/P35.
Montana Gold 115 FMJ w/ 5.2 Unique...that load seems to match the Rem. 115 FMJ off the shelf for accuracy. Those +P's were 135 Hornady Critical Dutys, little bigger bullet but absolutely no noticable difference. I'll be doing the wet phone book bundles test soon to guage comparative penetration and expansion.
Gotta love it! :o

How did you do that, by filing down the end of the pin?

I would love to see your input on expansion of the Critical Duty. I have a bunch of them. I shoot really accurate with them but I have been curious how well they work.

I can't run very well but that is still my initial plan....:o
I firmly believe that it is all about placement and accuracy with whatever round you chose to use/works for you.
Yes, I will post some results from "the phone book" expansion/penetration test. To be know from here on as the "Yellow Pages Examination" :D:D
Perhaps listing it; in a more ballistics related forum..I'll leave a link, or; the ammo forum here probably already abounds with valuable information for you:)
Stay well
