was blind but now i see!

Plenty of reviews and personal experience with a Kahr CM40 and two previous CW45's had me as the number one enemy of a Kahr firearm. Had 3 CW45's in the past and one CM40. 2 of the 3 45's had issues. One, the trigger would "fire" but no bang...one second later, it would strike and go boom. Scary. Several different ammo types. Typical jams and FTE's on both 45's. One of the three worked flawlessly and i always loved it. I only sold it for a little cash that I needed at the time. The CM40...never worked for me. Jams, fte's, even after the break in period.

However, I still always loved the way that CW45 felt! never carried an easier gun to carry and it was spot on accurate. Amazing trigger. So...I broke down and bought another. Bought a CW45 and took it to the range today...

PERFECT! 50 rounds of hunkin' chunkin' .45 ACP and not a single malfunction of any kind. BTW, this range session was all JHP's. Why carry a gun if I'm not certain it will shoot my carry ammo!? not anything expensive, just bought green and white box remington 230 grain JHP. 50 rds. for $25. Cheapo ammo! And it functioned perfectly! So, why would I purchase any other ammo? I'm not! It works, very accurate, remington it is.

When these Kahr Firearms work, they really are worth far more than you pay. If you get a lemon, and there seem to be plenty, send it to Kahr and let them fix it. Should you have to? Not at all. But if it happens, do it, you'll be glad you did. Because when that baby works, it works better than any other. I fired it along with my S.A. range officer, and was more accurate with the kahr! Never would've believed it.

I'm new here, hope I'm not wasting a post. Happy Shooting!:amflag:

Not wasting a post at all. It's a good one and words to live by.

All points spot on. Glad you gave it another chance and got a good one out of the box.

I sometimes wonder myself if other than the astronomical price of ammo it wouldn't be better to break in with hotter carry rounds. Usually have no problem with them in new tight guns.

It's the light target and reloads that seem to cause issues.

I totally agree that if one ends up with one that balks, give Kahr a chance to cure it, they will do so without question. It may be one trip or two or even more but they will get it right.

Good communication about your issues is huge.

Welcome to kahrtalk and back to the fold. These little beast are worth a little effort in my opinion.

Never sent them back, I always sold them to a guy who swore he could fix them...no clue if he ever did. I spoke with Kahr once, and they were very friendly and ready and willing to help. I have no doubt if I sent them back...they would've fixed them.

Guess we have to call those Amelia Earhart guns, we'll never know what happened to them.

Watch out for the Perpetual New Guy, he has some heavy connections.

Usually they are so busy with me that everyone else is safe but do make note of it. Old goat! That should get another goon squad enroute, your safe.

Welcome aboard, bnicholasboo. Hope that Kahr CW45 gives you years of good service. What the story behind your screen name?

Is there anything else?

I'm starting to think the same way recently since I've got my carry package pretty much figured out.

Welcome to KahrTalk.

It was so encouraging to read your post. All to many times I'll read about someone having a few bobbles with their new piece and swear never to buy the brand again. Of the 5 or so semi automatic pistols I've bought only one (Glock 26) didn't have an issue or several that I didn't have to work through to get a reliable carry gun.

Muggsy: bnicholasboo is a combo screen name. b(first initial)nicholas(middle name)boo(nickname as a child. As a kid playing baseball, I resembled Steve Buchelle, the third baseman for the Texas Rangers at the time and I too played third base. All the parents started calling me "boo". Corny, but it stuck.)

UPDATE:

I qualified for my Texas CHL today with the CW45. Two points off of a perfect score! No jams, FTE's, FTF's...perfect. Absolutely in love with this gun. Trigger, once again, was AMAZING. Now, need to buy an extra mag (or two) and order my crossbreed super tuck, and I'll be set! And btw, I know some aren't fans of the Kahr sights, but i can't see myself using any other sights. Very quick acquisition. I'm in love with this gun! Thought the Glock 21SF was my fave, but this Kahr, Man it's awesome. It wins hands down.

Great to hear about the success you have had with your new CW45. I had one for a couple of years. I did have a few hiccups in the break in period but it was flawless for about 700 rounds when I sold it in a fit of stupidity. I just picked up another CW45 today. Just finished the initial cleaning and lubing. I hope mine performs as well as yours did right out of the box.
