I feel as though I have committed a heinous sin and I am need of a confession...:(
I ended up purchasing a used LCP 380 off of a guy from work today. He bought it for his wife to use for her concealed carry class and she HATED it.....He was going to trade it back in at the gun store but they wouldn't give him as much as he wanted so I ended up with it.
The gun is about a week old and has around 50 rounds through it. It came with two mags, a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster, and 10 rounds of Hydrashok .380 ammo. I gave him $330 for it and I'm not sure if that was a good deal or not but I think I could resell it for what I have in it if I needed to.
I haven't shot it yet but I can tell you the trigger does NOT feel like my CM9 at all! The trigger pull is much heavier and feels like it releases with a snap. I feel like I settled for this thing because the P380 is just to much money right now however I still have my eye on one and would consider trading up in a heartbeat for the right deal.
My wife currently thinks the gun is cute and likes the size of it sooooo after we put a few rounds through it this weekend she is going to use it as her CC gun for a while. I have to say the size is awesome and it truly drops right into your pocket with room to spare. Time will tell how I like it so far the jury is out on this one

I've had an LCP for several years now and I like it. I can shoot it pretty well at self defense distances. The trigger isn't as nice as a Kahr but it'll do in a pinch. Like you mentioned, I love how it disappears in a pocket.
Let us know your thoughts after the range visit. Good luck.

Go with this trigger and 13 lb recoil spring, it makes it shoot fantastic.

If you got the 2 magazines and the holster you got an OK deal. If you would have bought it new there would have been tax anyway.
I have one and it disappears in the pocket. I've put well over a thousand rounds through it and it works on any ammo except Independence ammo.
Word of advice. Keep it cleaned and lightly oiled. I let mine get dry one time and had issues but the issues were all due to my neglect.

Thanks for the link to Galloway. Interesting they have developed no parts for Kahrs. I think that's a complement to them. I have been trying to figure out who made the Walthers P22 guide rod I saw at the range a while back and now I know. Good price too...
Nothing wrong with the LCP that you can't tinker to perfection. I bit hard and bought the P380 (an $800 day) but did very seriously consider buying two LCPs and havinig a New York reload for less money. For some reason the ladies seem to like the Ruger over the Kahr during shooting fests I've been to. Don't know why but I did tell all the ladies who picked the LCP that my P380 was the "higher end gun". Two of the four bought LCPs and the third was given a PPK (pays to be drop dead georgus I guess).
Enjoy the little Ruger and a range report would be great.

My fiancé carries an LCP, she's grown to love it. She's actually highly accurate with it at self defense distances. To me, they're no kahr, but they serve a good purpose as far as easy concealing goes and I've actually thought about picking one up as a BUG myself

Congrats.
Doesn't sound like a bad deal. I have a early 2nd Gen KT P3at. It has proven itself to be a very reliable little up close SD tool though the years. It hides well, And I do carry it sometimes during the hot summer months or when no other pistol quite fits the bill. These are not range toys though, and about two mags full is all I want to shoot at one time. These old hands and fingers do not need that abuse,as they have been through enough in the last 66 years. If I may mention one thing, do not get discouraged if the gun does not operate 100% at first. As many times these little guns need to break in period, and you need some time shooting them also. Kel Tec forums has a good linc on how to do a Fluff and Buff on them that really does help these little pistols perform better. As mentioned, You cannot in anyway, other than maybe the color compare it to a Kahr.
I think once you get used to shooting the LCP you'll grow to love it as a little SD tool. There a lot tougher than they look, and the longer you own it the more reasons you'll find to carry it.
I've put my P3at through hell. I often thought of writing an autobiography of what it's like to be a P3at owned by a biker named Popeye. Only problem is most people wouldn't believe it. But I leave you with this thought, and you can believe it or not. From my experience a P3at will still shoot quite well even though it does have oyster ******* crumbs and road trip dirt and crud in it. Like I said there alot tougher then they look.:D Good luck and enjoy your new SD tool

Thanks for the heads up on where to get the precision parts. One of my first thoughts was I need to do something about this trigger. I will order the trigger, trigger spring, and recoil spring next payday.

I have had the P380 bug for quite a while...... I wish they would come out with a CM380. :D

An LCP was my first CC gun. I sold it, and now I'm considering re-acquiring one if the price is right. I miss being able to just slip it in my back pocket with no belt clips showing or tumor pressing against my hip. I'm probably more sensitive to IWB holstered guns than most, don't know why. Sometimes I can wear one all day and barely feel it, but sometimes it's just plain uncomfortable.

I'm glad to hear that you have had such a great experience with your LCP. I told my wife right off the bat that this gun will end up getting abused. I thoroughly plan on making it a truck gun, pocket gun, kayaking gun and whetever else I need it for gun. I kind of picked it up just because it was cheap, I have no emotional attachment to it, and it is very small/easy to conceal.
I have to admit you seriously piqued my interest with the little bit of a story you started to talk about. I would love to hear the rest about it sometime!

That is the main reason I bought it! I wanted something small, capable of holding 7 rounds, and easily concealable in a pocket.
I bought one for my wife, she to thought it was cute, and fit her hand well. She put about 2/3 box of ammo through it and handed it back to me. She then started shooting her Bersa Thunder .380. Neat little guns, but they are quite snappy. I ended up selling it and got her a Bodyguard. That gun she loves.

Hmm well I will have to reconsider the trigger spring then..... I wonder if it would make it feel even better though.

Love my LCP. Great for throwing in the pocket or lightweight carry. Has been flawless so far for me.

Just a reminder: the new bargain priced CW380 is rolling out as we speak.
I didn't like the triggers or the fact that there is no slide lock lever on the LCP and P3AT. So, I went with the barebones blued Taurus 738 TCP for <$200, and I am very well pleased! :D It has a slide lock lever and holds open after last round. And the trigger is light and smooth like a Kahr. The only diff is that you can take up the slack and stage this trigger dependably like a DA revolver. I wish my CM9 had that feature.

MY PM9 is my preferred carry gun but there are times that it just does not as concealable as I need. I have a LCP with a CT laser and I carry it in a Uncle Georges wallet holster in the back pocket of my dockers. I find it very comfortable. Nice little gun that fills a nitch in my carry rotation and it shoot very well.

I saw the CW380 on one of the gun magazine covers yesterday. They are being reviewed. Who will be the first to post their own photos here?
I actually carried my P380 yesterday... and modified one Kydex mag carrier for on and off without undoing my belt or removing it... used a chisel and needle-nosed pliers, then a quick butane torch/emory board smoothing... ouch! I removed less than 1/4" of the inside loop so that my 1.5" belt could slip out.

Another little tidbit for the LCP. You can add an additional round to your magazine with this kit from mag guts.

I don't have one but I am intrigued.

Yes, it does, but it's manually operated (no last round lock back).

Have been carryin' mine in a Desantis Nemesis for several years. Almost forget it's there.
If I run out of ammo, the lock will take up the slack as a bludgeon. :D

You do realize that for about the same money you could have bought a Kahr CW380? You won't get out of that LCP for the same money, unless you find someone who really wants the LCP.

The way things have been around here I wouldn't be able to find one for quite a while...... I honestly think I can get out of it for the same money I have in it.... around here they are selling like hotcakes for $359 with one mag and no holster.
I will most likely end up with a CW380 and my wife will end up with the LCP. I just like shooting and trading firearms so we will see what happens plus by the time I bought the extras for the kahr I would have had close to $500 in it.

My son gave me one of those for Christmas three years ago. I don't care for the 380 round and it's not pleasant to shoot, but I keep for those times when a PM9 is too big.

That is the only reason I keep it. It fills a need when the others can't. That little P3at doesn't ough me a DIME. If I through it away tomorrow it was still worth every penny I paid for it, and I'd buy another P3at or LCP as soon as possible. It's got every spring and part in it that came with it. It also has over 800 rounds through it. Im not the type that will spend a lot of money on a .380 know matter who makes it. So long as it reliable. The .380 round has to many limitations for that.
Here's a pick up my little pistol I call Timex. Funny it looks better in the pic then it does in real life. It used to be new and ugly,. Now it's old beat up and uglier yet. But it works probably better than ever.Bwaahaahaa.

Can you imagine what the guys that carried handguns back in the 30's both good and bad would say about something like a P3AT, LCP or P380? They would flip for one when all they had for pocket carry was a large chunky short barrel 6 shooter, a full size 1911 or a tiny .25 Baby Browning IF they could find one....
I've had 2 LCP's and liked both very much, couldn't hit too much beyond 7-10 feet but thats what it's designed for....I also wouldn't scoff at a .380 round at short range and while it's not a 9mm or .45 it certainly would change a bad guys mind about his intentions....Some of the better .380 SD loads are close to being on an even par with a .38 special out of a J frame and thats been the standard caliber for a CCW or back piece up for close to a century....
I like a .380 and am a fan of any reliable small, easily carried pistol and will own another one in the future either a CW380 or an LCP....

Even though my P9 is my favorite carry gun. Since I carry it OWB holster, I'm not always wearing something to conceal it. SO, that's when I carry my little elsiepea in a pocket holster. I really hope I don't ever have to use it for SD since I really forget it's in my pocket. I haven't put much more that a couple of hundred rounds thru it but so far it's been flawless on any ammo I've ran thru it. I purchased an LC9 thinking it might be a possible replacement but alas it's a bit too heavy for my taste in pocket carry. And I had to send it back to factory after two mags with broker firing pin spring. Now it works great though but don't carry it hardly at all.

That is an awesome pistol! My dad has two guns in his possession that have family heritage and I am looking forward to the day they are passed down to me. One is 300 Savage that my grandfather brought back from WW2. It still has the Japanese stampings on the barrel. :Amflag2:

The Pearce grip extensions have made my LCP easier to shoot and don't take up enough room to make it any harder to conceal. I also have a CT laser on mine. I have been pocket carrying it for several years. Either as a bug or as my primary summer carry. It has been 100% reliable and more accurate then it should be.
