I know I can't be the first one to try to decide which one of these for a new purchase and ask this question. If already posted somewhere please past the link for it as a reply for me.

As mentioned - I'm fixin (yeah, I'm southern) to buy either a Kahr PM45 or Kahr CW45. If price were the same I'd go with the PM45 quick but since it's about a $400 difference I've got some thinking to do.

So - besides the small difference in size - what's your opinion/comments on this?

Holster availibility, night sights - anything I need to consider???

Thanks in advance.

Other than size, the CW lacks a tiny bit of refinement cosmetic wise. It has a pinned front sight rather than a dovetail but sights are available if you want something different.

It has a standard rifled barrel as opposed to polygonal, not an issue to me, a plus if you want to shoot lead bullets.

It will run just as well as the PM. Many prefer the slightly larger size for grip and actually prefer the look as well.

It comes with one mag rather than 2 with the PM.

I have a PM45 and for my purposes it works perfectly. My hands aren't large and it usually fills a back up roll on my ankle so the size and weight are very good for a real caliber gun. The CW would fill the roll nearly as well.

Holsters are readily available for either so pretty much a non issue there.

I wanted a PM9 to go with the MK9, about that time the CM9 came out and I love it, look at all the money I saved to buy......

Sights are different, barrels are different other than the roll mark and extra round in the CW.

$400 is alot of ammo and a good holster.

When I was deciding on which Kahr .45 to buy, I was considering the PM45 or the P45. Since I was buying one for concealed carry, I decided on the PM45. Now I've gone from my main carry being the PM9 or the PM45 to carrying my P40. I did switch to the metal base plates which cuts a little off the grip length and makes a difference to me. I've always used my PM9's Cross Breed Mini Tuck for all Kahrs except the P380, which has its own Mini Tuck.

The CW45 does cost about half as much as a DLC with NS, but you can add NS and another magazine or two... at least 3 total... I have 9 for my PM45... 2x5-rd, 1x6-rnd, and 6x7- extended grips for the range and spare carry. I carry Speer 230-gr Gold Dots, Short Barrel version in my PM45. The cavities are shallower and wider at the bottom for good expansion from 3" barrels.

the cw45 over the PM45 hold also one more round??? That is a nice advantage and gets one away form the butt ugly extended magazines that the PM45 would have to have, being it is a 45 I would go for the cw as u will need that extra round:Amflag2: Just sayin

ArmyCop,
Welcome to the forums:)
The folks above have given you good gouge in regards to the PM 45 and CW 45. My personal choice was/is the CW45:

Note: I would like to point out that the CM45 was introduced at the recent SHOT show and should (hopefully) be avaiable this year.:cheer2:

Buy both. My CW45 is my most carried pistol. It used to be the PM45 before it got itself stolen.
