Got a new CM .40 today as my new CCW and will be heading out Sunday to break it in. Please let me know how your CM .40 functioned during the break-in period and how many rounds it took to break it in.

I've got 200 rounds through mine (100 FMJ and 100 JHP) with no problems. Good choice!

Jocko - what lube do you use?

You need to be very specific with Ole Jocko. He's talking about lube on your gun Jocko.

I know he's fond of TW25 for the rails, I don't recall his choice for oil.

Welcome to the forum, SafetyManCSP! :) There is a wealth of valuable information in the New Member Area (http://kahrtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=56) and the Kahr-Tech (http://kahrtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=27) sections of the forum.

The CM40 is a great carry pistol and a super value. Kahr says 200 rounds. Some guns don't seem to need as much, some some more. Thing is, it is fun to shoot and as the rounds mount up it gets incredibly smoother. You won't want to stop going to the range with it! Read the manual, especially how to correctly reinsert the slide stop lever when reassembling the gun. Some people do 200 the first day, but don't punish yourself and the gun. Do it 50-100 rounds at a time, cleaning and lubing it each time. Use plenty of oil during breakin.

The best holster I have found for forget-it-is-there comfort 24/7 with my CM9 is the PJ IWB Holster (http://pjholster.com/?page_id=37). There are so, so many members here that will concur. Paul is a great guy and a real gun lover, and he performs magic with kydex - making the holster incredibly comfortable to where you can't tell it is there whether sitting, standing or moving about. It is like the mass of the gun disappears, becoming one with your body. I carry mine with a 15° cant just behind my hip - the sweet spot. I prefer the one linked above with the over the belt clip. I normally wear the above under a loose shirt.

My CM40 hung up at least once on every loaded magazine. I tried different brands with different grains. Its back at the factory now. I have already talked with my local firearms dealer where I bought it, he said he would take it back on a trade in on a Glock.
Its gone >>

Mines back at the factory also. It broke the front off of two followers. It performed great for the break in 200 rounds. Since then a round hangs up on the ramp frequently. This is my first Kahr. I haven't given up as I know sometimes $€#+ happens. I'm just waiting to see what it's like when I get it back.

Other than being a bit larger, what didn't you like about the XDs?

FWIW, I called Kahr customer service a few months ago because I was on the fence between a CM9 and a CM40. I asked which ones that have had more returned and she said CM40. She said they rarely get a CM9 back for warranty work. I had my heart set on a 40 since most of my other guns were 40s but that conversation weighed heavily on my decision between the two. I have since decided I am going to order a CW380 instead for a BUG to my Glocks.

I have the same question. I have been interested in buying and XDs, so I am interested in hearing your opinions.
