I just got back my MK9 from Magna-Port and finished polishing the barrel. While it was gone I purchased a new stainless steel rod and springs from Kahr and properly assembled it. After cleaning , oiling and lubricating the MK9 I installed the recoil assembly and it looked fine and the front of the rod was nice and flush with the front of the slide frame. I racked the slide after assembly and noticed the front of the rod was extending about 1/16'' outside of the front of the frame .Is this normal and will it settle to being flush after shooting ? I don't want to fire the gun if this is not normal. I do have a Wolff non captive set up and also a Kahr standard recoil assembly in my inventory of parts but was looking forward to having the stainless steel setup on my MK9. I took pictures to post but my posting options rules states "may not" post attachments ,how do I fix this so I may post pictures...All help would be greatfully appreciated.
Thanks Bullstone

BULLSTONE, you can post pictures from Photobucket. The way I post pics is upload them to Photobucket, click on the image, select the Direct Link on the right, come over here to the Post Edit Window, select the Picture Icon (http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee486/John_England/Misc/PictureIcon.jpg), paste the link in there and hit Enter. If I am pulling a picture from some other website, I Right Click it and select Copy Image Location, then post the same way.

You need 30 post but as these guys stated you can post a link.
I just click the bottom option in photobucket, something about copy image or something and then right click on your post here and hit copy and it works for me.
That supposedly works.
i don't know why that rod would stick out unless you have the wrong one.
I know mine will stick out sometimes if I don't have the guide assembly centered up in it spot in the frame. Really doesn't want to go together. Just have to shift it a tad and then it's good.
I'd probably try to stick the old stuff back in and see what you get or compare.

I think the colonel hit the nail on the head. I would pull that wolffs assembly back out and maybe lube the two rod peaces up a tad and reinsert with the open end towqards the front of the slide and mayb ehand rack it 50 time sto see how it takes a set.

jocko: I now realize I can't post pictures until I have 30 posts will it be possible to email you a couple of my pictures of my MK9 for your expert opinion ? After looking at other pictures of recoil rods on some MKs my stainless steel may be normal but I would be honored by what opinion you may see and have from my pictures. If possible my email is bullstone@msn.com

I don't have a dual recoil spring Kahr pistol so I'm talking out of school, but you might check the outer recoil spring to see if it's more tightly wound at one end than at the other. If that proves to be true, try installing it with the less tightly wound end towards the muzzle.

Remembering the few MK series Kahrs I've handled/seen, that looks about normal to me.

Bullstone, it looks just right. I replaced the recoile rod on my MK40 with a stainless steel rod and it looks just like yours. I have shot around 800 rounds through the gun since I replaced the rod. No problems. I think you are in good shape. I would post pictures, but those posted look just like it.

In the pic of your assembled slide where the rod is flush its because there is less tension on the RSA. Fully assembled the slide stop inserted puts the slide back a little to line it all up. That's why the cap sticks out. It looks just like mine.
