I'm lazy with the camera, but just pull the slide back a bit and stick the sharp end down between the barrel and the breach face, then adjust it up or down until the marks line up.

I need to change chopstick supplier $#$%*&$@ Chopsticks. I think my chopstick is too long and stiff
My slide pops it right out......

It's not plastic, is it? The one I use is plain blonde wood, about 1/4" in diameter with about a 1 1/2" long taper. Maybe take some coarse sandpaper, lengthen the taper and rough it up a bit.

Here's another method that you might try.
I use a piece of stout cord (like paracord) about 24" long. Tie a loop in one end.
Drape the cord over the end of the barrel so that the loop is about 1 " from the end of the muzzle on the left side of the gun.
Take the loose end of the cord back along the right side then behind the grip then back through the loop and then back down to the grip.
Pull the slide back slightly beyond the alignment marks, pull the cord tight, then take several wraps of the loose end around the grip to hold the slide in place. You can then relax the tension on the cord slightly to allow the proper alignment needed.
Sorry...no pics..I'm a newbie here. This is how I deal with the heavy spring on my P-40.

I hold a Sharpie pen in my mouth and use my hands to line up the witness marks or actuator and slide cutout. I experiment until I find a part of the pen or cap that will hold the frame in the correct position. Any object you have handy can be considered... sturdy ones that can't be crushed! You can try sticking the object in the top or side... whatever holds the slide best.

Those "Witness Marks" are useless. You have to line up the half moon cut-out! I'm not sure why the marks are even there? And if they are meant to be aligned, they are on the wrong side!!!!

Wow, you can't make any harder than that. This must be the Polock Method. I think your supposed to do it while standing on your head and rubbing your belly with your right hand. :D

or better yet, send an illegal to college, let him learn how to do it and then just have him along every time u wantto take the slide off the gun. No sense gettin ur hands dirty or scuffed up. I would loan u my illegal but his specialty is cutting grass so he would probalby loose the damn slide lever alot. He is all thumbs, actually that is no lie either, he has 5 thmbs on his left hand. I could loan u kim sucloc and his brother kwan nosucee. they are my Harley detailers. damn good at it to. but I would want them back by this riding season. U must PM me though as this forum has rules about trafficing. Just sayin

I put my thumb and the web of my hand under the back of the slide at the grip, wrap my hand over the top of the slide (my pointy finger and middle finger over the top of the slide), cam it backward pulling w/ those two fingers while pressing w/ my thumb/web. Just enough for the witness marks to line up (or the half moon as Cubby mentioned) and pop it out. Within the first 100 rounds or so, it was harder to do it this way (too tight), but after that, I can pop it out w/ my finger.
If that doesn't make sense, yell and I'll try and post a pic later.

Since the peanut gallery is also commenting, I'll share my OTHER method that works pretty well.
Drop a single round in the chamber, prepare your finger right next to the pin, fire, when the slide comes back...POP IT...but be ready to catch the slide as it's going to fly off on it's way back forward. It's tricky, but if you are fast enough, not that difficult.
DISCLAIMER (this is a JOKE, do not try this at home, or anywhere else)

I tried that method and had mixed success. The gun came apart easily, but it took over an hour to patch and repaint the hole in my living room wall and about 8 hours for my ears to stop ringing.

You never know...you never know...
Of course, if someone needed that disclaimer and I didn't make it...I suppose the herd would be thinned...
