Watching the news for the last week or so I've noticed there have been 15 teenagers and one pregnant lady killed in vehicle accidents. Terrible! BUT
where is the outraged news media, the Progressive (PC) senators and congressmen trying to get bills past to stop this? Is Cuomo and Bloomberg going to confiscate all the cars in NY? Is any of them insisting there be a 8 hr. training course and a certificate to buy a vehicle? Wait 120 days to get your permit? Maybe a 6 hr. anger management class required before getting your license? With respect to all, am I going to be less dead if I get killed in a car accident than with a gun? To paraphrase - VERY INTERESTING!!! Just sayin'.

That's my big worry... things you have no control over... the drunks or the people playing with their electronic devices... or like the TV PSA's that show the cars going along the highway with no driver at the wheel... then the idiot raises back up from perusing the CD's on the floor of the passenger side of the car! I really watch for idiots like that and try to get by them and on down the road! I hate the people who gab on the phone or whatever in the left lane... then there are the idiots who SLOW down alongside 18-wheelers... sometimes between them, instead of getting on down the road and away from tight situations with no maneuver or braking room.
Last trip I screamed at my wife to back off from tailgating an idiot who slowed and matched speed with the two semi's on either side. She got pissed, but we got out of that squeeze play fraught with possible wind gusts or swerves for other reasons!
I always anticipate the worst from other drivers and try to leave myself maneuver and braking room. Too many times, it was good that I did. People act like they are sitting on their damned sofas in the living room instead of piloting and being responsible for a multi-ton rolling missile!
I like to drive a little faster and stay away from other traffic so that I can see what's happening and have time and room to react! But, I can dial it down and listen to the stereo instead of getting reckless.
Situational awareness is definitely my friend, but you never know when some idiot is going to veer into you head-on!

Well, there were a bunch of small plane crashes in the last few days. Are they going to ban all small aircraft?

I think that drivers should be licensed and that all cars should be registered. Wait a minute, they are. Never mind.

:rolleyes:I think we should all go back to caveman times and get rid of everything that might hurt us.
Cars, guns, airplanes...you know I tripped over a curb the other day...need to make a law to get rid of those. My son had a crash on his bike...time to get rid of those as well.;)
Sure am glad we have a government to protect us! Because we certainly can't do that ourselves...:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleye s:

Last year we had 3 cases of drunk drivers going the wrong way on an interstate highway and having a fatal head on into some poor unfortunate person in the wrong place at the wrong time...One guy killed was a newly promoted Police Detective going to a hostage situation in his departments area...He left a wife and small children but there were no calls to ban cars, bars, alcohol, or anything else....I just can't understand how someone could get so drunk that they don't notice everyone else is going the other way blowing horns and flashing lights and they still keep going until they head on somebody...
They say the most dangerios place to be is in the fast lane because the drunk driver going the wrong way thinks they are in the far right slow lane......We also had a Police Officer hit and killed while getting out of her patrol car in the emergency lane with every blue light going that anyone should be able to see from 5 miles away but to a drunk driver it must look like a target that they MUST drive into.... I really feel for those folks whose jobs require them to be on the road at 3am...I have read that on a Friday or Saurday night that 6 out of 10 drivers coming at you have been drinking and at least 3 of them are totally drunk....Thats scary!!!!

In all seriousness, we have had several wrong way crashes on our interstate in my area! 2 were on the same weekend with many killed. All involved alcohol. I spoke with a police officer in my area and he said things are usually slow in our area until the bars close. He said we would be scared to death to know how many drunk drivers on the road at that time. It keeps them very busy. It really is sad. Too many people are losing their lives too early. I wish there was more we could do in this area.
