Just ordered a CM9 from Buds Gun Shop (on layaway) and had to come over here and join up! I am currently deployed with the military overseas, so I cannot wait to get home in June and pick it up. Although I've been shooting for decades and reloading at home, I never got my CCW. Now I have coming what I think is the perfect CCW weapon for me...looking forward to it greatly. I evaluated the CCW options ad naseum for way too long--spent MONTHS looking at the various options. Review after review talked about how good the CM9/PM9 is, so I am sure it will be a great experience.

Any must-have add-ons for a new CM9 owner??

No must haves really, your gonna love it. Some find the grip a little aggressive and throw an innertube or like a Hogue or Qwik Grip slip on cover. Easy fast cheap cure for that.

Thanks for being over there for us that still appreciate it. Keep your head down and if you get in a jam, call me I'll come cover your back.

There's lots of links and stuff to read here to console yourself until you get home and get to play hands on with your new toy. Sad you have to wait that long.

Welcome aboard, Stealth'. And thanks for Serving!

Here's some info and links that will enable you to hit the ground running with your new Kahr:

Welcome to the Kahrtalk forum supported by K a h r Arms.
Here are a few essential links and things to do BEFORE you take your new pistol to the range, and ESPECIALLY BEFORE taking it apart and trying to re-assemble it! The Kahr is a different design… 6-7 unique patents cover the Kahrs. I’m not trying to imply that you don’t know anything about guns, but many don’t know anything about the Kahrs and some of the things you can do to damage or cause malfunctions of your new, or new-to-you Kahr pistol.

First, if you don’t have a manual, yet, or one didn’t come with your pistol, you can view it and/or download the pdf file here:
http://www.kahr.com/PDF/kahrmanual.pdf

Please watch one of these videos FIRST! These videos can point out possible problem areas and emphasize correct procedures!
Take down and re-assembly videos:

K series:

There are many links on fixing problems listed in several places… under the New Member or Kahr Tech sub-forums.

A very handy one is the Kahr Lubrication Diagram:
http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=14750
Many of your questions can be answered in these areas and you can learn how your Kahr works and not damage it with improper handling.

Another great resource for information on Kahrs... Archives of Magazine and Internet Reviews for Kahr pistols by industry experts. They test these pistols and report on their views and the ammo they tested in it. This is a good way to find ammo that might fit your needs along with accuracy and feeding in the pistol... usually from a rest with velocity and energy, as well as penetration and expansion sometimes... very informational.

Frequently asked questions: http://www.kahr.com/faq.asp?

One very important bit of advice: Hold the Kahr pistol firmly when firing OR CHAMBERING a round. These compact pistols need all of the force they can get from the slide to get a round into the chamber successfully. If you don't hold the pistol firmly, part of the needed momentum is transferred to MOVING THE PISTOL and the top round will DIVE and jam into the right side of the feed ramp. The weak hand, over hand rack method gives the best grip and a firm rack will give you the best chance at chambering a round.

Use the weak hand fingers over the slide(clear of the ejection port), thumb along the slide and pointing to the rear. Use the gun hand to simultaneously firmly push the gun as you give a vigorous rack with the weak hand and cleanly release the slide as it reaches the rear limit and is "snatched" from the weak hand. This approximates a real rack from firing and beats the slide release method WHEN executed properly. Much more strength can be exerted when this is done closer to the body.

Here's a video on that. The first part is what I'm talking about:

There are many helpful members here most of the time who might be able to help you, but as anywhere, there are many opinions and not all are correct. Be mindful of this before doing anything drastic to modify your pistol!

PS: I keep thinking of stuff to add and help new members... and am trying to cover most of the popular subjects. Yes, it's repetitious to many, but possibly not to all new members. This approach is easier than having to look up every tidbit for each new member or question that arises. :)

The only must have is a good holster and the right ammo. PJ Holster will fill the first bill and Speer Gold Dot will take care of the second. I could be bias in that regard. :) Welcome aboard.

The best holster I have found for forget-it-is-there comfort 24/7 with my CM9 is the PJ IWB Holster (http://pjholster.com/?page_id=37). There are so, so many members here that will concur. Paul is a great guy and a real gun lover, and he performs magic with kydex - making the holster incredibly comfortable to where you can't tell it is there whether sitting, standing or moving about. It is like the mass of the gun disappears, becoming one with your body. I carry mine with a 15° cant just behind my hip - the sweet spot. I prefer the one linked above with the over the belt clip. I normally wear the above under a loose shirt.

Welcome, Stealthfixr. Thank you for your service. Oh, and pay no attention to some old fart minister around here who's been waiting forever for his CT permit. Since you have to wait until June, I'm pretty sure you won't hear him moaning anymore. Can you tell us what you do in the ... Army, AF, Marines? Quite a few here have walked in your shoes and would be interested in anything you're free to share.

Congrats on the CM9!!!!! I LOVE mine and I am sure you will love yours to. I have around 800 flawless rounds through my CM9 and like it more with every pull of the trigger.

I would say you should get a GOOD holster right off the bat.....I made the mistake of buying a $20 dollar leather clip sleeve for mine and I really don't like it at all. I keep looking and looking and just haven't pulled the trigger on a more expensive one yet.

expensive does not always mean, u will like it. I had a whole drawer full of leather pockt rigs (left handed) and my24/7 carry yet is the desaantis and uncle mikes #3 for my PMJ9. I just never warmed up to the thick , stiff sob's leather rigs. I think by the time any of y leather rigs ever got soft enough to feel good about carrying, I would be long gone. Just sayin

Welcome, Stealthfixer, and thank you for your service. You made a great choice both with the Kahr and this forum. Lots of great info and a more than a few laughs.

Wintrout's post and links below are mandatory reading/watching BEFORE you fire your Kahr.

This forum has a military subforum, but not much activity usually.

Good luck to you.

I dont have a holster or a gun to put in it, but I LOVE the look and idea of the desantis holsters. small, thin, soft. Looks great, no edges, i really want one of those.

I got the hogue slip on grip and like it. I have bigger hands.

I too did a ton of research and found reviews to favor a CM9. I am very happy with my purchase. It loosens up the more you shoot it. Enjoy!

First let me say THANK YOU for your service to the country and Welcome to the nut house. Congrats on the CM9 I'm sure you'll be quite happy with your purchase. There a great gun for sure. I've been CC a PM9 as my EDC for about 2-1/2 years and have never found a pistol that I like better for that purpose. I have a DeSantis leather Holster designed for the CM/PM9 Kahrs, but to be honest the one I always seem to go to like Jocko for my EDC rig is the cheaper DeSantis gunhide (Cadora) holster. The leather one is high quality but it's a little hot in the summer and it 's a liitle stiff for my liking even though I have worked on it to soften it up.
In the cooler weather I carry it in a coat/jacket pocket in a De Santis pocket holster. Some members are able to carry there's in there front pockets, but I've never been able to do that with any comfort. Good Luck and Welcome

First, congrats on the new Kahr and "stay frosty" during your deployment. I picked up a OWB DeSantis holster for my K9.

My first four years were in the US Army at USMA then cross-commissioned into the US Air Force where I've been for the past 21 years (22 in June). I am in the Aircraft Maintenance career field, meaning we make the air power the operators employ, and I've worked every AF fighter that we've flown in the past 21+ years. I am currently in Pakistan on a one-year remote until June.
Glad to be here and proud to serve!:Amflag2:
