in their K9 or P9? I picked one up last week off an auction site for $30.00 shipped. Being $154.99 new on the Kahr site I figured I couldn't go wrong. I'm going to try it out this weekend along with my "new to me" Kahr PM9.

Fella over under the "New Elite" has one, talks real highly of it. Very accurate from the target photo's. Looks kind of cool too. Let us know how yours shoots. Sounds like you got a pretty super duper deal on it.

I have a P45 that I had Magna-Ported. cost me about the same as the Kahr barrels(if a 45 barrel was available) and didn't increase the length any.
Looks great, as if it was a factory option.
I have only had it to the range once since getting it back and I only shot 50 rounds.
The accuracy seemed the same(at least for my skill level).
The kick and lift were both reduced but since it was 3 weeks between shooting without and with the porting job I can't tell how much until I find someone that has a P45 that I can shoot one after the other.
One thing I did notice is since some of the gases are released inside the slide the barrel is much dirtier. I dont think that will be an issue with the longer ported barrel.
The one thing I think the magna-porting will be better than the ported barrel is the magna-port vents are not blowing hot flames and gasses straight up into your line of sight, instead they are blowing out in a 'V' pattern. I think in a dark situation that will be a big difference.
When I get a chance I'll try to post a picture.

Yeah I couldn't pass it up for $30.00. This gun is already a treat to shoot so I think this barrel could only make it better.

I'm preparing to send my K40 off to Magn Port as we speak. I've read about it before, Jocko has done it, several others but I never considered it. Finally the light came on (perhaps still dim) that this would help address my follow up shot issues. According to Magna Ports website it doesn't effect velocity, and vent in the V doesn't effect night vision or mess with night sights. It does look cool. I was concerned about it getting dirty from the gases but I don't plan to shoot as many rounds a Jocko thru this thing, just enough to stay proficient. Look forward to a picture of yours.

I could eventually see getting my P45 Magna Ported. I just have to be careful not to have so many Kahrs around that I won't know which one to drive.

I'm no expert, but I've heard ported or compensated barrels are no-no's for self defense guns. Shooting at night can cause you to be blinded for a moment similar to when you see spots after looking at a bright light, supposedly is worse on ported barrels. Never tried it myself, now that I think about it I should so I can know what to expect.

Magna ports website claims that with the new slotted variety and the V pattern that it doesn't cause loss of night vision.
I know I tested a comped Glock for our K9 officers years ago and it was a flame thrower. They talked about catching clothing on fire if shot from a tucked in stance or out of a pocket. It would have done so nicely. I'm gonna give it a try soon as I get enough marbles, if it's a flame thrower I'll just close my eyes at night, I usually do anyhow. Loud noises startle me.

I recently had my air weight titanium 38 snubbie ported and it made a huge differance, I shot 100 rounds threw it at the range and ......
NO PAIN FROM SHOOTING!
I would say it was well worth having Magnaported.:) I maintained good follow up shots throughout the entire 100 rounds.

What a great find! If at all possible, try using movie or video mode for tests and get stills for posting the flashes. I do this all the time now... since I thought about the video capability. At 30 frames a second, the flash is usually in one frame and terrific.
If Kahr offered a ported barrel for the PM45, I would sure get one. I just can't stand the thought of the slide being Magna-ported, and an extra half inch of barrel wouldn't make much difference in concealability, though there might be a problem with the action and tolerances in firing the compact PM45.
Man, I have to start widening my searches for other than ammo!

The V shape works as described if your arms are fully extended while shooting. Try shooting a V ported weapon from a speedrock position, as I did, and you will soon realize why ported weapons are not cool for very CQB. The gases and other debris hit me in the face, which was a distraction to say the least.

Good information. I noticed that when I was testing that Glock also. Gas and debris in the face would not be a good thing in an already tense situation. Seem's like the V shape would be an improvement over the straight up series of holes in the early days. Would that be an accurate theory?

I sent my P9 slide and barrel off to Mag-Na-Port on Tuesday via FedEx overnight. I have not received it back yet, but I am excited based off of the research that I did pertaining to the Mag-Na-Port method of porting.

It worked with my P9 quite well and I'm going to try it in my CW9, as soon as this freekn' rain stops, and will let you know how it shoots.

One more concern would be if you plan on or have a laser sight installed. If the ported barrel is dirtier it would require more cleaning of the laser lens. Most likely not important for self defense but still a possible issue:rolleyes:.

Received my Mag-Na-Ported barrel and slide this past Friday. I detail stripped my existing slide and reassembled the inner components into the Mag-Na-Ported slide. Going to try and hit the range tomorrow to test it. Also, did a trigger/action job by doing the mirrored finish with the dremel and Hard Metal Polish #2 to all the friction points of the moving action. YouTube - Kahr Action Job (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1cDRE0mYdY)
Now, if all goes well at the range, I will have to figure out what to do with my old slide and barrel.
