yes it is a little bulkier than my tactical folder, yes it is a bit heavier too but I always wanted one. Yes it was *(&^#$)$&* expensive but I plan to have it professionally sharpened, and for $15 per sharpening, I plan to use the heck out of it as a EDC utility/ SD blade. Like blades cant help it.

Very sharp ;-)

Where did you get it from?

What were your thoughts on this one versus the "bigger" one - carry/conceal?

I think one of my guys has one of those. I was afraid of the thing going off in my pocket.

It's pops out with gusto. He didn't have the little sheath, just carried it in his pocket on the clip.

question: can I port that sucker??? Can I put a 5# plunger spring on that fokker??? Can I change grips and have the colonel make me a set??? Can I modify the blade release to contour it some??? Can I get it in the black dlc finish??? I think I would like it to be the blunt nose version to protect my two little boys.

Interesting blade - I love knives but my pocket is too small for this one. Let us know in a few months how it works as a utility knife for you.

Cool knife! Is that the double sided blade? Did you get the 3300 or 3350?

I can see how a handy instrument such as that, would be very useful in trimming the odd nose hair, or hemorrhoid, or retrieving stuck ben-wah balls. Probably make lifting cheese off the deli platter a thing of joy too. Use it in good health!

Dang! That's as much as a gun! I'm not sure that is legal, either.

I paid $24.xx for a Gerber Fast Draw assisted opening knife. It has a safety lock switch on it to prevent accidental deployment, and a nice clip. I clip it inside the back edge of my right front jeans pocket. It is quality built and quick to deploy. Mine doesn't have the half serrated blade, but is otherwise identical to this one:

uKPUvWHDA60

I paid $8.xx for a Cold Steel Roach Belly knife that is sharper than any razor blade - just an incredibly sharp blade right out of the box. I wrapped the plastic handle with hockey tape to improve the grip feel. I really like the shape and size of this knife.

I don'tcarry none and that knife would scare my little boys so far back I would tak in a very high note, for they wold be telling me. "We ain't commin back out until that Bad thing is gone".

to answer questions:
yes it is the 3300. Double edged.
yes it is almost the cost of a glock
It is double action and is designed so that IF it deployed in your pocket, it would not go blade deep into your leg or ball sack. The spring disengages. IOW you cannot hold it up to someone's gut hit the button and it will stab them for you. But it would still cut you and not be a happy moment. In short, your ball sack is in some jeopardy.
The button "is like a revolver trigger" so you have to really want to move it to activate it. I do not see it activating in my pocket accidentally.
I carried it all day and used it for utility stuff as I use an EDC blade. It is actually very nice to use but scares the sheet out of people around you when you deploy it.
As far as the bulk: I have to say that I honestly find it a little bothersome. My folder is invisible to me but this knife not as much. You are reminded it is there.
Is it worth the $: Honestly, NO. about half the price of admission not the full price.
This is not a survival knife or a tactical knife or utility knife IMHO. It is a knife that can do many things but none of them really well. I do like the knife but I am realistic in the knife's abilities and short comings and paid a hefty price for the cool factor. I like it. Glad I have one but there are many better blades out there for less money without the cool factor. But to be honest, I like the OTF blade because in a stressful situation, I am not 100% sure I will get to unfold my blade when the SHTF. I have been training with my folder(with Emerson wave) and a small % of time I was not getting my blade to open and go to full lock. I feel the % will be next to zero of that happening with this type of knife. This is the fundamental reason why I bought it.

Nice knife. Unfortunately in PA, autos are illegal or I'd have one. I have several Benchmade knives and they are really nice. Too nice for me to carry. So I usually carry one of many Kershaws that I own. I really like them. All are spring assisted, very sharp, very inexpensive and have lifetime sharpening from the factory. Have a couple of SOG's too. I like them as well. Good luck with yours.

I was just wathing an episode of N.C.I.S. and a terrorist pulled one of those knives to cut into a box and retrieve a bomb to use in bloeing up a nuclear carrier. When an agent attempted to ambush him, he spun around and threw the knife, taking the agent out. So apparently, it makes a good throwing knife. :)

those OTF dont have enough power to cut through jeans or thick cotton.

hang a piece of thick cotton loose 1/2' from the slide end and deploy the blade.
it wouldnt scare me to have that in my pocket.

yes it will as I said earlier, it will not automatically stab someone if you put the knife to thier gut and hit the button.

Nice knife. Have you checked out Microtech? I carry a Microtech Ultratech as my EDC knife. Some consider Microtech to be the finest production knives made. I like mine, but they are pricey.

They do have a safety feature, just like yours, which will knock the blade off track if it meets any resistance while deploying the blade.

The reason I like OTF knives is because I never have to worry about the knife potentially closing while in use and cutting myself. There are some torture tests videos on youtube and Microtech's hold up extremely well. Microtech has a full line of OTF knives with different sizes, colors, and blades. They also have a lifetime warranty.

They are highly rated and I've thought of getting one myself.
But the price has always drove me away.

Plus my Spyderco H1 Pacific Salt folder and Cold Steel push dagger
are two knives I just can't imagine anything replacing for carry.

$86 recently? The blade on the one in the link is insane. All the great blades throughout history were made lake that. The viking Houbach(sp--I cant remember the name of the famous war sword) was. yes, its in my jacket EDC.

its not legal by any means in MN, but it is legal in ND with a concealed weapon permit.
If caught in MN, in a school zone, its a felony. Thats the only time I take it out of my pocket.
Otherwise, I carry it everywhere. I even pull it out an cut stuff. I open it discreetly tho!

The 9" is the classis gangster style, thats why I chose it.
It opens like a bandit, hurts your finger if it gets in the way.
9" is kinda big for the jeans that why its in my jacket now.
i bought it direct from the website in early january.

I think he buys the Damascus steel, cuts and polishes it to get the effect he wants. He sends the staghorn off to be stained or treated to get that "volcanic" look... or at least that's the total effect to me... Hawaii volcano-like! That's how it struck me. The turquoise is beautiful for the ocean... and the copper and other materials just go together so well!

Benchmade makes some of the best knives in the world. I have a limited run pre production model, A guy with a knife shop gave it to me for fixing his computer. I think he had a price of $150 or so on it. I was carryig t one day, and my wife threw away the box and instructions, really screwed up the collector value, but it is still one very nice knife. It's not assisted opening, it has a knob to flick it open with your thumb, and it does that very well. I have a Kershaw Ken Onion assisted opening, that is my EDC and a bigger Kershaw that is opens with a flick of the wrist. Kershaw sells a pretty decent knife for the money.

I dig the look and the penache but Swblades have no pocket clip(correct?) and if you do carry it in a pocket you must use the safety(correct?) so in a SD situation, how do you get to it quickly and then deploy the blade quickly while disengaging the safety? In short, is it a readily available SD weapon?
