View Full Version : Snubby to PM9 transition

Hi, just found this forum.
I'm not sure why I'm interested in carrying the PM9 - it's just kind of calling out to me. I carry a S&W 340PD with Crimson Trace grips in a pocket holster. I guess I like the idea of a semi-auto option in-pocket.
I know the trade-offs, but has anybody been down this road already? Can you shed any light on plusses or minuses of the PM9 vs a snubby that haven't been commonly discussed (shooting from a jacket pocket, a couple more rounds, etc.)? I'm left handed, by the way.
Thanks in advance!

I can't answer your question but I'd be happy to take the 340PD off your hands. :)

Dang you new guys are quick!
Mr. Happy, I think you'd be darn happy (wow, I think I created one of them puns things. not intended or intended, that is the question). any how I think you'd be happy with the PM9. Many here love them alot. Mr Jocko got about a bajillion = 28,000 or so rounds thru his and still running strong, both Jocko and his PM9.
Welcome to the forum, lots of good stuff and guys here. I was born (well momma claims I was found under a rock) in Bowling Green. Just a few skips out of St. Louis, so we speak the same lingo although mine might be a bit rusty.

I think you'll love the PM9. I've never carried a snubby before but I absolutely love my PM9 and I know you will too. Have a fun time on this forum, lots of crazy and great minds here.

Could you provide a defiinition of crazy senior member jklantis? Just want to make sure we're talking about the same peoples. Ya know Dietrich, Jocko, Wyn, ryoung, WMD, I think even Mr. Happy might qualify but it's too early to tell.

Well, there's over an inch more of barrel... 6+1 capacity with the flush-fit magazine... better sights... Night Sights and DLC optional, but desirable options. There's a BIG brother -- the PM45. (Yeah, I know there's a PM40, but I like the BIG .4+ bullet)Pix:
#1 PM9, 1.75" bike tube grip wrap(not really needed, but from 1st attempt for PM45... waste not....)
#2 PM45
#3 Clockwise from top left -- P380N, PM9094N, and PM4544N)
#4 PM9 and PM45 with Tactical Kydex magazine holders
#5 PM9 firing Double Tap 124-gr Gold Dot JHP +P. PM9 weighs 19.6 ounces with 6+1 of these bullets loaded.
The PM9 is probably the most popular and the one owned by most members of this forum... or on their shopping list.
I was really in love with the PM9, but I'm impressed by size and the PM45 is my "Baby" now, but the PM9 is a beloved "stepchild".

Hi Mr. Happy,I own a PM9 that I have absolutely fallen in love with.I carry it about 85% of the time but I also have a S&W 642 that I like to carry in addition to a couple of others. There`s no reason you can`t carry your snubbie as a bug.As much as I love my Kahr,I`m old fashioned enough that I refuse to break totally free from the wheel gun and I really don`t have any desire to break away from them.To me,there`s just something about a revolver that is wayyy cool.Come to think of it,I think I`ll carry one today.Oh,welcome to the forum, glad to have you here.:)

Well Deitrich it's you and me. It's gotta be like way early, well maybe it's morning for early risers in NC. Go ahead and start your day, I'm going to bed for awhile. I never gave up my wheel guns either, you just gotta hang on to yesterday anyway you can.

Hey! Did someone mention my name?? My ears were burning.:w00t:
Dang! If I don't get around to my taxes soon, I'm going to have to pay a penalty and interest! Now that would be crazy!! I just can't stay off this forum. I have all these new friends... you guys are my friends, right??
I have so much reading material... magazines, 2 weeks worth or newspapers(comics), catalogs up the wazoo, and so on, that I should have read or looked at and disposed of or recycled or just put away! I must have two dozen new books that I haven't read, too. I'm kind of in a boring one and I can't get too much read at a time.
Jeez... diarrhea of the mouth. If I can't stop this soon, I'm going to have to keep looking over my shoulder, waiting for Bawanna' to take over the BM#2 spot. Dang! That sounds kind of disgusting... B.M. # 2.
