View Full Version : CM9s advantages over an LC9 (with an improved trigger)?

Do you guys think the latest CM9 is a good bet--that it'll most likely be 100% out of the box? I'm kinda leaning towards the LC9 with a Galloway trigger bar/hammer mod, but want to be talked out of it. Does the CM9 have advantages over an LC9 with a good trigger (except being a tiny bit smaller)?
BACKGROUND: I had a P9 I loved, but got greedy and went with a PM9 that had a trigger reset issue. Kahr fixed it, then it went to Cylinder & Slide for a reliability job....but I sold it since I was carrying a .380. I then went to a PF9, back to .380 (LCP), and am now looking for another pocket 9mm.
It seems from scanning the forums, Kahr has still got quite a few lemons, and is still super tight--requiring a break-in period...but they work great for those who get good ones.

Heard of very few issues with the CM9's.
All guns require a break in, Kahr is one of the few that is honest and tells you so ahead of time in the usually unread owners manual.
Only my opinion of course but given your two options I'd go CM9 in a heartbeat.
Besides the Kahr has a way cooler forum to go with it "FREE" and that's pretty much priceless.

Yeah, in my Kahr days, 2007-2008, glocktalk had the biggest Kahr forum, and Dottie was the go to person at Kahr. I had that bad PM9 lemon, but C&S worked it out. Had $800 in the little black gun, but ended up selling for like $550...people could get new ones for $625 back then.
With Kahr's, due to the tightness and some issues, I feel like I need a 150-200rd break-in, with most of it being my expensive carry ammo--so the $$ can add up. With a glock I feel like 50rds is good to go...never had a glock "need" a break-in where it jammed in the beginning.
I'll probably need to go pocket both to see how much better the CM9 feels.

I purchased a CM9 and while I had a few minor hiccups during the break-in period, it has been 100% reliable since then. I broke mine in with PMC ball ammo which won't break the bank and run Speer Gold Dot in it for a defensive load. I wouldn't trade my CM9 for a trunk full of LC9s.

were all talking about the past here with reliability stuff. Ur either gonna get a good gun or ur not. no maker can guarantee u otherwise. I could tellu my PMJ9 has over 32K rounds through it and no issues but aht means nadda to the new purchaser. If u had a kel tek then IMO ur certaily ready for a good gun in ur stall to.the Ruger lc9 is a nice gun and will work when needed but it ain't in the same league as the kahr, IMO.
I amnot gona sit here and tell u to buy the kahr and you won't hgave any issues. for that is pure speculation on anythig that man makes today. If u have an issue kahr will take care of it, that is the best I can tell you. If u wanna believe all the naysayers, then indeed buy anutter brand. Most people wo have issuesd with any gun seem to just post and post and post on every fokking fun forum they can get on, so it can sound and look epedimic when indeed it is not.
I have a G19 tha thad to go back and I would be the first here to recommend a glock to anyone who asks.
50% of marriages end up in divorce, so what percentages are u playing when u get married?????? IMO ur better off buying ANY FOKKING GUN and the percentage of it working out of the box is gonna be much much much higher. Speaking from experience, it is cheaper to peddle a defective gun than a defective xwife. Just sayin:Amflag2:

I posted this on Ruger LCP forum,
"I have a CM9 and a LC9. I've been trying to decide which one to sell. I can't come up with a good reason to pick one over the other. It's hard to beat the Kahr trigger. It has been flawless since I first fired it. The Ruger also has been flawless. I do shoot better with the Kahr, but the Ruger is a softer shooter. The Ruger is a little larger, so it's easier to hang on to! So, I rotate them in the carry order?"
I have both and have shot and carried both. I still can't decide which is the better gun?

other than that I try to add my 21 cents worth to. which is still a tad shy of senior citizens coffe at McDonalds..

I am in the same position. Love them both, and I'll keep them both.
