View Full Version : Newbe question - any problem with a cm9 in front pocket w/o holster

I applied for my concealed carry permit yesterday, and bought my cm9 today. The crimson trace is ordered. I had just planned to drop the pistol in my front jeans or shorts pocket. Is there a problem with this, other than being not as accessable when seated? Thanks, Jack.

IMO there should be something covering the trigger otherwise you'll eventually end up with glock-leg.

Ha. Sounds painful. So there is an inside the pocket holster? Does it stay in the pocket when the pistol is drawn?

Tons of stuff out there. DeSantis is a big player in that market. I use a couple of their products while carrying in by cargo shorts. All depends on how much you want to spend and exactly how you are carrying/type of pants.

than likely incargo pants the holster will wanna come with the gun.I carry a desantis inmy jeans 24/7 and I can draw my PMJ9 without dragging the desantisout. Certainly not a fast draw area when pocket carrying but u do'thave to dress to carry that way, and u always have the element of surprise over the BG, as he isn';t figuring u to have a gun, so IMO a fast draw thing (whatever i the fokk that really is) is not as iportqant as just having the gun on u allthe time...:Amflag2:

Uncle Mikes #4
Cheap and it works.

I tend to disagree. The reason I bought Kahr was because of the long DA feeling trigger.
Glock takes a tiny amount of trigger movement to fire. Kahr takes a long sweeping amount of trigger pull to fire.
To each his own, but since April 2010, there has been a Kahr PM45 or PM9 in my pocket every single day, including sleeping with one in my pocket a few times when I had to sleep out in the back of my truck in less than favorable environs.
I personally trust my Kahrs, and the dangly-bits to the front pocket. I carry the Kahr and nothing else in that pocket. I'm careful to make sure there is no sand and such in the pocket.... as I work in harsh conditions. The barrel and action will pick up lint. You'll have to clean and lube regularly - even if the pistol is not fired. Regularly means every week or even every day if the conditions are warranted. Run the pistol a bit dry, and you'll catch less lint. You can always do a quick lube before range time if you want to. Sweat can play hell on things, so keep the pistol clean - rinse the barrel and slide in hot water occasionally, to get rid of salt from perspiration.
Thats my 2c on it at least.

Stays Put. $14.95 http://www.concealmentspecialties.com/products.html
I've had DeSantis, this is far better. Actually, I still have 2 DeSantis for PM9 with CT. Happy to sell you one, but you're better off with one of these.

I looked at Mikes. Looks like the ct will fit as well. May give it a try.

Unclie mikes #3 will fit a cm or pm kahr but with the ct, I think u need the size #4.
I have the desantis and the uncle mikes #3 and they areboth great rigs. These little picket rigs conform to your body 10X faster than any leather rig will ever do at about 1/5the price.

I've looked at all three y'all have mentioned. I wonder which one would be least bulky?

the uncle mikes is IMO the thinnest

Haven't tried the uncle mikes. But the Stays Put is closed on the end and keeps lint and pocket stuff out of the pistol DeSantis doesn't. Keeping the gee out is a wonderful thing.

I was about to decide on Uncle Mike's #4 because it may be thinner, but the Stays Put may be the one I need. Has anyone actually seen these two. I'm looking for the thinnest, least bulky, holster. It sounds like my main concerns should be a closed end to keep lint out, and a covered trigger to keep the jewels attached.

An absolutely great pocket holster that will disguise the gun in your pocket, cover the trigger and make it very comfortable is the Stays-Put Ultra (http://www.concealmentspecialties.com/products.html). Just $14.95 shipped and they make one fror the CM9 with CT laser. And, BTW, it STAYS PUT when you draw the gun!
The best waist holster I have found for forget-it-is-there comfort 24/7 with my CM9 is the PJ IWB Holster (http://pjholster.com/?page_id=37). There are so, so many members here that will concur. Paul is a great guy and a real gun lover, and he performs magic with kydex - making the holster incredibly comfortable to where you can't tell it is there whether sitting, standing or moving about. It is like the mass of the gun disappears, becoming one with your body. I carry mine with a 15° cant just behind my hip - the sweet spot. I prefer the one linked above with the over the belt clip. I normally wear the above under a loose shirt.

After trying a friend's Recluse, I ordered one for myself. Fits great and completely conceals. Easy draw and it stays put in my pocket. You do have to take the holster out to put the gun back in it.

Did you get the one with the mag holder or without? Jeans fit? I just got a pm9 and I am looking for the same thing.

I am using a Stay Put now. It feels good but the hand grip imprints through the pocket. The Recluse hides it completely. Plus the gun draws a little faster. I'm afraid some clown will see it and panic. In my state it MUST be concealed.

CJB, While I respect your status and posts on this site, I urge you to please reconsider posting your thoughts on this. It is your choice to carry without a holster, but to recomend it is horribly wrong imho. A less than experienced gun owner being swayed by your post and deciding against a holster could have very bad consequences.

Being a newbe to CCW I have found choosing a holster an interesting subject. Kind of like choosing a car brand, motor oil and religion. Everyone has a different idea of what is right for them. Like choosing a woman. Even after you choose, you still look around to see what the other guy got!!

Yeah, if you're lucky. :D
Can't complain though, my wife is pretty cool about the looking around thing (discreet).........if I miss one, she'll even point her out to me and remind me that I missed one.

I ordered the one that would acomodate the crimson trace. As far as I know, it did not hold an extra mag. I saw a jeans or cargo pants option on some of them, but I didn't notice that choice on the one I ordered.

IMHO I will never carry in my pocket without a cover over my trigger.
I don't want to end up like ole Plaxico (http://technorati.com/entertainment/glosslip/article/why-did-plaxico-burress-glock-himself), or get the "glock leg"!!!
I'm with jocko; I don't trust slowgoat!
When I draw from my Desantis Nemesis, it stays behind in the pocket. Why wouldn't I wear it? There are new ones that just came out that are even stickier.
Lately I really like my Sticky (http://stickyholsters.com/) holster. My LGS recommended it. He knows a thing or two!
Eventually you'll be like the the rest if us and have a drawer or box full of failed attempts at finding a holster we like. (We should have a holster swap sticky if one doesn't already exist, BTW.)
Be safe!

Well, we have a Pay It Forward (http://www.kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=16217) sticky and the Marketplace seems to be an easy way to move some holsters to happy homes. (Reminds me. I need to take some pics and post a holster sale.)
