Because I need someone to take away my credit cards and save me from myself.
What would you guys say to a Kahr CW9 and a P9 DLC w/night sights and seven magazines between them for $700 shipped to my FFL?
How in the world can I think of buying more guns...I just got my PM9 last Wednesday...I think I've lost it.

I think if you don't take it I will! That sounds like one of those to good to pass up deals. Good luck.

Dang! You have to ask?? That sounds like a good deal for resale!
What do you do for a living? It seems like you just dabble in guns and stuff.
Inquiring minds want to know. (Or nosy ones!)

Wow...where do I start with that one?
I'm an architect and my first love had always been fishing. I prefer saltwater but fishing is fishing. About 6-7 years ago I got into hunting to spend more time with my father and developed a passion for it. Out of that grew my love/lust for guns.
My wife and I had "come to Jesus" talk not too long ago about my gun buying habits. It sort of went like this...
"I don't go to titsy bars, I don't drink a lot of beer and I don't get out very often for myself. We don't have very much debt so I'm not hurting our finances or robbing the kids of their future. So you need to relax and if this causes you stress then don't ask me an questions."
The truth is I like finding good deals and I usually end up selling my overflow/duplicate guns to friends and family. Many a time I've taken someone shooting only to hear..."I need to get me one of these." I guess they get the benefit of my finding the deal and making sure the gun functions well. It's a no-risk no-brainer...It's more of a public service really...:p

Thanks. I remember you saying you were an architect, or designer, or both, now.
My wife doesn't notice, or ignores the small stuff, but the guns are something else. I'm up to next Christmas for gun shopping, so I thought I would play it cool for a while.

Yeah...I start feeling a little guilty when I'm buying guns and still have some that I haven't shot yet. With the price of ammo I need to divert my attention to building my stock pile and hitting the range more often. That gets expensive quick too.

I never say no to my wife when she wants something, ever period. If we don't have the money we borrow or figure out a way to get it. She says no to me frequently, daily, maybe even hourly, and nearly always after dark whenever a question comes up. She seems to play favorites too. The kids need something for baseball or school, no problem. But he's already got 6 of those that he lost and he don't need it. They get it. I need a PM45, or a Cbob Dan Wesson, sorry honey we just don't got the money. You've got a ton of guns in 3 safes you don't need anymore. But you have a ton of jewelry, a new mustang, and I never say no. Well that's not the same. I love the phrase come to jesus talk. Around here I call it come to frying pan talk. I don't drink, or run around, don't like to go no place really, especially work. I tell you there's no justice.
In yo grill, I apologize for all the wicked nasty things I've called architects in my life. As a former contractor building the stuff you guys think up I've had a few unpleasant experiences, non of which of course were directed at you personally. Short story. Was building a house and looked over the plans, noticed right off that at the top of a stairs there was only a little over 3ft of head room due to some bizarre roof lines. I called the architect and asked if the new owners were midgets. He didn't have much sense of humor and asked why. I told him to look at the plans and tell me how much head room there was top of the stairs. He came up with a just under 5 ft. incorrectly but still not nearly enough, I told him you want me to build that and pay me to change it later or break out a new crayon and fix something. Probably had to be there to really appreciate this. I guess like everything else, there's good ones and the ones I had to deal with. Not that it matters but I like architects way better than engineers, and them way more that lawyers.
ok bye

Aw it's ok Wyn... I know some pretty dumb-arse architects too. I've gotten many clients over the years who told me they had fired their last architect because he would give them what they wanted. I've got no ego but being in the business for over 20yrs I have developed a little attitude...
In a way I kind of felt like that towards contractors. GC's to be more exact. They talk you down to making almost nothing while they talk about exotic trips they take and drive around in their Ford F-350's with all the goodies. I live a little more modestly to say the least.

Thank goodness, he blamed it on Wyn, he can take the heat.
Most of the architects I dealt with drove around in Beamers and Mercedes so I guess it goes both ways. I never went on any expensive trips, too busy building stuff or looking for stuff to build. Kind of a double edged sword, your either working or looking for work.
I did buy a nice bass boat, and the first day I thought about playing hookey, didn't feel it was right for my guys to be working while I was fishing. Anyhow that's the day the wall got me, thus bringing an end to my contracting career (hated the paperwork end of it) as well as my dancing future. Oh well lessons learned. Work ethics suck, play hookey.

Man I apologize for getting you mixed up for Wyn.
I know all contractors are the same. In fact I've been in business long enough to be a little picky about who I do work for. Well...a couple of years ago I was picky. With this economy I'll do just about anything for anyone.

as the owner of a small surveying and mapping company (27 years in p/p), I've had my occassional encounters with a few "building plans". You have to love it when the intricate building fails to close mathematically by 2 inches. Sorry, Mr. Architect, the Surveyor and Contractor do the detailed design, you furnish the "concept".:D
sorry for the jab, I'm in the process of trying to clean up a "plan" for our church that started out at $2.5 mil and is now up to nearly $6 mil..... and the "professional in charge" failed to hire a Civil to do the ramps, paving and curb detail..... he also failed to use the detailed topo I provided in 2007 to do his "design".
surv
BTW.... why the question of who lives in/near Texas... and why call me out to (insert word nanny equivalent for mother dog here) about my long standing relationship with conceptual artists.... I mean architects (no offense... I started college as an architecture major... sort of.... actually majored in campusology)

Hey we all gotta eat and buy guns right? Isn't that what contractors do is blame it on the other guy and mix em up with Wyn. I'm sure we all got a ton of contractor stories, I've really had some good times and bad times in an earlier life. I guess we can probably all agree, the lowest form of life on earth (well next to that fella in washington) is a building inspector. I've met 1 who was a really decent great guy, the other 200 were parts of the lower human anatomy. Almost as bad as Dept of Licensing employees. Ok they are probably the lowest.
ok bye

I worked for this one like I did for the PM9. It helps to catch it when someone first puts their gun up for sale. Many times they are looking for the money and will take a quick sale. Bird in the hand theory I guess.

I suppose after my insulting outburst that I-Y-G will be withdrawing his offer to loan.... uh, hand over his credit card for safe keeping to another fellow Texan.... I didn't really mean what I said....honest... I was delirious from being in the hot, blinding Texas sun all day, swinging a weed blade on the back forty.....well, actually, on the riding mower with a couple of cold beers, but that takes away from the dramatic excuse..... oh, and also being in a distressed state of mind since my wife left me yesterday.... o.k., she took her college age sunday school class on a weekend trip, but adding that little detail also takes away from the drama.....
still friends, I-Y-G?
still need someone to "guard" your credit card?
need someone to break in the new guns and test the reliability of a case or two of ammo?

It's all good surv... I spent the weekend alone as well. Wife and kids went up to the coast to visit with her sister. I worked my tail off cleaning out my garage and just popped a Motrin. I still have half a days work tomorrow. At least I can part my Kahrs...er...uh...I mean my cars inside again.
