What a waste of perfectly good candy. But cinematography was excellent. Maybe a different choice of music would have made me feel better about the candy waste. But I doubt it.

It's been a while since I've fired a 50 cal, but I don't recollect them as being very precise; but I must say I was surprised at how easily it got deflected off the line of trajectory.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Looked like after 10-12 of either variety of those "soft targets" the projectile was already starting to tumble. Something ain't right with that video.

Did you not notice the nails in the board sticking up into the peeps? The bullets were deflected by those, not the peeps.

That reminds me of Easter family reunions in the country... near Braxton, MS, back in the 50's. My favorite uncle had lots of guns and brought a bunch to family gatherings and we kids got to shoot everything! I shot my first M1 Garand and '03 Springfield back then... and many other guns. Sometimes the Easter eggs were used as targets. There were a lot of kids because of my mother's 4 sisters and 5 brothers and their families! Eggs sitting on the fence made great targets for even .22's!

In the last round with stacked peeps, the bullet goes pretty straight and level and actually dives a bit towards the end of the line.

I wouldn't think that a little wire finishing nail had that much effect on a 50

I've seen deer missed when a 12 Ga. slug struck a twig just 4 feet in front of it. Once you lose rotational stability a projectile can go anywhere, but straight.

yes, I understand all that.... and yes, I've seen .30/30 rounds deflected off small twigs from trees. I would not have thought, with the energy delivered by a 50 bmg round that close to the muzzle, that there would have been that much deflection. I'll stay in my stoopid mental state and figure they just hadn't quite tweaked their bore/target alignment. They should have called in a surveyor to do the layout:D

That be a joke, right?

In this case, it wasn't one! Look! There's one under each of the peeps to hold them up. In the second firing, the round can be seen rotating and possibly starting a spin and the third shot takes a dive after going along the top layer and dives into the lower layer towards the end... just a tad as there are no nails on the upper level.

The peeps were last year's stock, hard as a brick.
