So recently I posed the question of Remington 870 or Mossberg 500 for a tactical build 12 ga. I appreciate all of the fine suggestions all of you made in helping me with my decision. I decided on an 870. However, after careful consideration and a recent delivery to my lgs I decided on neither. That's right, neither. What I got trumps both. I am the proud new owner of a Colt LE6920MP-FDE M4 Carbine. She is dressed in FDE Magpul furniture and chambered in 5.56. Sorry, but the shotty will have to wait.

That wasn't on your drop down menu or I would have chose the Colt too.

I already had a mossy pump gun, but opted to add a Bulgy 5.56 AK myself.
A 30 round semi-auto is good thing to have!

Awww....I most likely should not point this out, but I just gotta. When one starts thinking of guns, battle rifles in particular, as sexy one is not right in the head.

OK...I'm not proud. I'll ask the obvious question. "So what?" :D

When it comes to firearms, being "right in the head" is SO overrated.

Lugers and Tommyguns are sexy, that is cutting edge.

Please define "right in the head".

I'm with Deacon Lugers and Tommy's ROCK!

I don't have a Luger YET.

No big deal, and no kind of offense intended. Just my lame sense of humor trying to say that being "rational" about firearms is difficult for me.

Guilty as Charged, guess I've been watching too many of these video clips:

When someone describes a weapon as sexy I don't take that as being literal.
To me it means highly desirable.

I was on the edge of buying my sixth HK, or possibly a high end 1911,
when Obummer and his minions initiated actions to disarm law abiding American citizens.
Proposing a so called Assault Weapon Ban caused my personal "Change of Plans".
If Obummer doesn't want me to have an AK?
I absolutely must have one.

Really didn't realize that with the right ammo a 5.56/.223 weapon actually works for home defense.

Isn't that nice?

Could say sorry but I'm not. I take firearms seriously. Airhead playboy chicks can be amusing, Moronic playboy airheads playing with guns just really hurt my head and our cause.

Thanks Barth at least someone understood my meaning. Maybe you should follow me around and interpret for others what I actually mean. The pay sucks but the persks may make the job worth it.

Call it sexy or ****** or what ya like. I call it mine and it makes me :) I'm still trying to decide how I should dress her up. Any suggestions?

That's the beauty of them, they are like a Mr. Potato Head you can swap stuff right and left.

Personally I like the minimalist approach and like yours just the way it is. Doubt I'd add a thing.

Only thing wrong I see is it's in your toy box and not mine. But I'm happy for you immensely. Not one little bit jealous, no siree, no jealousy here whatsoever:(

I sort of side with Bawanna on this one - Less is more.
There's a boatload of stuff I could add to my AK too.
I even bought a Hogue rubber pistol grip and Bulgy dark wood furniture.

In the end I just attached the factory Bulgy two point sling that came with the gun - LOL.

Best advice?
Mags, Mags, Mags,
and
Ammo, Ammo, Ammo.

I bought 19 30 round Bulgy waffle mags.
1000 rounds of 2012 Lake City M855 steel tip penetrators.
500 rounds of various LE HP/JSP ammo from Hornady, Winchester and Federal.

+1 Thats a sexy rifle, no frills just the real deal....Kinda like a 66 Shelby Cobra vs a new one...The 2013 has electronic traction control, flat screen driver input, A/C, Sun roof, 5 million watt stereo, 27 position heated seats and programmable gauges and who knows what else...

The 66 has an ignition key, loud pedal, shifter and melted Goodyears....

Sometimes Less is More....

Excellent analogy getsome.

Jocko, analogy is like when you compare a couple of similar things, sort of the same only different.

So far I picked up a Magpul angled fore grip, 2 pro mags and all the .223 I could find, 260 rds. No p mags to be had around here so had to get the pro mag instead. I haven't heard good things about them. Anyone have experience using these?

Less is more is the way to go, which is why I built mine from individual parts. That way I only bought the parts that I wanted to have in my rifle. No wasted parts & no extra weight.

Very nice choice. Pro mags = pos in my experience over the years. I recommend you also get an AR 223 chamber brush , Otis AR cleaning kit, breakfree clp and Patrick Sweeney's ar 15 book - http://www.amazon.com/The-Gun-Digest-Book-AR-15/dp/0873499476 as a start.

We poke a lot of fun at you Jocko. And you're a good sport.
You're the lightning rod of KahrTalk.
Every group needs a foil and you're it.
It's a sign of everyone's respect and admiration that we bust on you.
Men get that, women don't seem to accept it as easily.

Just keep doing what you do and all will be fine.

Thanks, but I haven't gone anywhere with it yet. She is as is from Colt.

I spent the day at work thinking about if I should leave it alone or add all the bells and whistles (it was slow, don't judge). I think you are all right. Aside from attaching the Magpul AFG2 I already have for it and changing the MOE Stock out for a CTR (the MOE has too much wobble in it for my taste), I am leaving her alone.

When I decided to nix my shotgun build in favor of an AR I never imagined I would end up with this Colt. And I owe it all to my wife. If not for her and her Facebook addiction I would have never found out my LGS had this beauty in stock. And all it cost me in return is agreeing to let her get a new kitchen table and to agree to her 2013 gun ban. Yes, I am banned from buying anymore firearms for the remainder of the year. That is fine with me. The huge smile this Colt put on my face will easily last the next 9 months. :biggrin1:

I'm trying the same trick with no more guns for 2013.
As long as a Stainless USP Match 45 doesn't appear I think I'll be ok - for now.

Blasphemy! 9 months without a new gun! What kind of communist talk it that, 9 minutes ok, 9 days, probably could get by with that but 9 months. Give em an inch and they want it all. NO deal I ain't budging, no siree.

Oh gotta go get dinner in the often, wifey is moody when she's hungry.
