no doubt, they are not shootin crude weapons. To may cuntries out there that are willing to sell those rebels guns that we make and sold to our "friendly" cuntrys that soon we find in the hands of enemys.
Some day we will learn--I hope.

They may have the rifle, but it's the training that make a difference.

I would wager the late Chris Kyle might disagree. It does take a superior intellect and the failure rate is one of the highest of any military school. I doubt any of us, you included muggsy have what it takes to make a mile or more shot accurately in a war zone.
Facts are facts.

Agreed. The math alone these guys do in their heads to calculate lead/elevation would take me so long that the war would be over before I could take the shot. I know at times they likely just guess, but that would be me 100% of the time. Lets see 1/3 mils divided by the date, times my age, plus the shoe size of the enemy in meters..... :)

I guess I really don't like giving up the advantage our guys usually have in hardware or training.
The world seems very small these days.

Without the training the hardware concerns me very little. I have seen inner city gangstas unload a 30 round AK mag and not hit poopoo.

I think we should send them some ammo to go w/ it. Wait, let me rephrase that, send them some bullets, if you get my drift :-)

I've never tried shots of a mile or more in a war zone, but I've shot 1/4 minute of angle groups from a bench rest at 100 yards with a .22-250. I wasn't putting anyone down, but I'm sure that there are more than just a few good snipers. Never underestimate what people are capable of doing with practice.

Exactly. A good amount of practice, concentration, and a little attention to detail can do a lot to make a good shooter.
My 16 year old daughter can shoot her .22 at 100 yards as well as a lot of grown men at the shooting range with their high powered deer rifles. She can compensate for drop and everything.

It can be approximated however without the superior training the military provides you are all talking about stationary targets. When the target is moving w/o military based sniper training your hit ratio at long ranges drops to no better than luck. IMHO
Also military snipers will testify that the shot is really the "easy" part. Getting into the proper position is where the rubber really meets the road.
