OK Kahr gurus... I need your advice and comments about this issue.
To begin, I bought this K40 back in January (2013) and I have noticed that it has been getting progressively less accurate. At first, I thought it was me just shooting with poor form. Then, I decided I needed to rule out most of my "human error", so I shot from a rest over three ranges visits. My spread seemed to get wider and wider over these visits. Keep in mind, when I first put the first few hundred rounds through this K40, it was a total tack driver. I was amazed at how accurate this pistol was.
To add, a good friend of mine (who is a much better shooter than me) marveled at how accurate this pistol was at a range visit back in February. Then, he shot with me again a week ago and asked to shoot my K40 again. I said nothing about the recent issue with accuracy, and he ended up shooting a wide spread as well (trending low-right). He looked at me and asked, "What happened to this gun?" I did not have an answer.
So... I decided to take a closer look at what might possibly be the issue. So, I have done some macro photography of the internal barrel rifling. I was shocked to see what looks like pitting in the rifle channels.
Please take a look at these photos and let me know if this is pitting / breakdown of the metal/coating,... and if so, could this be my issue with wandering accuracy of late.
Thanks in advance for your comments...
