This is a great forum and thanks in advance for any help I may receive. I just bought a new cm9 I paid 399 so Im pretty happy with the deal I got . I took it apart and did the suggested cleaning and preps, and I noticed a small nick on the left side of the guide rail that the slide slides on near the front of the frame, is this normal or reason for concern. I was hopeing to go shooting later today to start working on the break in. Second thing is there was no spent casing in my box, did this happon to anybody else? Thanks again hopefully someone can tell me something.

The nick is an index mark to line up the slide with when you disassemble the gun. It is explained in the owners manual that you read before shooting the gun. You did read the manual, didn't you?
Not everyone gets a spent casing, don't worry about that.

Yes I did read the manual. The nick Im talking about is on the metal guide rail that is mounted in the polymer frame You cant see it when the gun is put together. It is inside it is the one the slot on the front of the slide would slide on. It is not the index mark.

It is supposed to be there.

Welcome aboard, B.

You can relax. That notch in the forward left rail is normal. No need for concern.

Welcome to the forum, bfrompa! :) There is a wealth of valuable information in the New Member Area (http://kahrtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=56) and the Kahr-Tech (http://kahrtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=27) sections of the forum.

And welcome to the CM9 Owners Club! :D Our official symbol is the wide grin smily because we are so happy with our purchase that we can't wipe the smiles off our faces!

Here is your club badge.

The best holster I have found for forget-it-is-there comfort 24/7 with my CM9 is the PJ IWB Holster (http://pjholster.com/?page_id=37). There are so, so many members here that will concur. Paul is a great guy and a real gun lover, and he performs magic with kydex - making the holster incredibly comfortable to where you can't tell it is there whether sitting, standing or moving about. It is like the mass of the gun disappears, becoming one with your body. I carry mine with a 15° cant just behind my hip - the sweet spot. I prefer the one linked above with the over the belt clip. I normally wear the above under a loose shirt.

bfrompa,
Welcome to the forums:)

FWIW, I don't believe that notch in the front rail is mentioned in the operating instructions/manual (http://www.kahr.com/PDF/kahrmanual.pdf).

However, it is addressed in the "Questions and Answers" section on the Kahr website (http://www.kahr.com/faq.asp#q22). As the others have pointed out, it's there for a reason:
"Q. There is a chip in the metal guide rail of my polymer pistol. Is this normal?

A. This is a witness mark for the polymer frame manufacturer and is present by design."

Greg

Welcome to the forum, the nick is normal, and don't let anyone picking on you here about your question scare you off.

Life is good and you got yourself a good pistol. I wish you luck in finding some 9mm ammo. I can't find any around here but it'll get better.

Congratulations, you are the one millionth person to ask about the witness mark in the left front frame rail. You don't win anything, but at least now you don't feel alone. :) Welcome to the forum. There's a wealth of information in the owners manual, but no one seems to read it unless all else fails. Such is the way of man. Enjoy your new Kahr.
