It's no secret that the little Kahrs ( P380, PM9, etc.) like a polished feed ramp. So when I go to the range for a 200 round session, I bring lube ( 'cause they also like to run wet), and some Mothers Mag polish,( that I use on my SS revolvers), and a little piece of cotton rag. About every 50 +- rounds, rub the stuff on the feed ramp a few times with your little finger, and "voila", your feed ramp looks like a mirror:):)

iget about the same good result when ragne shootin with the ol Hoppes snake. feed it in from the bottom of the mag well and it will spiffy clean tat feed ramp jst like u never shot it. cleanliness never hurt anything..

I do clean well and lube well before firing that first round but tend to leave my pistols alone till my minimum round count of 500 rounds is reached , hopefully trouble free then cleaning and lubing again. I do check for polymer rail wear or anything not looking right after 50 and 100 rounds but leave them alone other wise till my minimum round count is reached. I would hate to think any would be so fuzzy about cleanliness during that first 500 rounds. Then if I only run a mag or 2 in one at the range it gets clean up and lubed again.
The way I figure it if a firearm is picky about being a little dirty I may not carry as a defence firearm.

I never carry a dirty gun and I carry them pretty dry. However, for range shooting I will take a Q-tip with oil and hit all the wear spots on my P9, including around the barrel. After each session I will clean it and wipe it down till it's pretty dry again.

A gun that is intended for carry should be able to get through a range session without be cleaned, held a certain way and feed the self-defense ammo reliably. If not why would one carry a finiky gun? No a self-defense situation most likely won't require 50 to 100 rounds but how can someone trust a gun that can't.

I like a clean pistol to carry but I will not pamper one during brake in shooting with any new pistol. I do go thru any new pistol the same including some extra polish time on ramps and even the chamber, but till its ready to carry I will let the crud build up just to see if its picky or not. For me thats 400 rounds of somethin lower cost and 100 rounds atleast of the brand of ammo I will trust it with.

Good reasoning:cool:

One reason to carry a clean and properly lubed gun is to insure that it will function properly when needed. It might just save your life. That's pretty good thinking, too.
Kahr polishes the feed ramps in their pistols very well as it is. A little more won't hurt, but I agree that if your pistol needs to have a ramp that's as bright as a mirror just to feed reliably then something else is wrong. It's also no secret that the micro Kahrs are pretty sensitive to bullet shape and profile, so your attention should be focused on finding a load that works well and sticking with it.
