So my g/f snagged up one of these today and I thought I'd go to the best knowledge database created.. HERE! But seeing as how this is my/her first Kahr, just thought I'd knock out a few questions. She plans on ankle carrying as how she wears tighter clothes and has permission to wear it at her work, so ankle is what she wants.

As far as the stripping it, I watched the video and is hitting it with a butt end of screwdriver or soft mallet really the only way to loosen the slide release piece out? Seems a little sketchy to start beating on a gun from day 1. Thanks for the info and will definitely be doing some perusing on here and learning up on these beasts!

Edit: Found the Steel Magazine Base Kit on Kahr's website so disregard that question

Welcome to the CM9 world. Hope you like yours as well as I do mine. Be sure and follow the stickies on cleaning and prep. I went to Wally-world and got a metal sewing thimble to push mine out. Works great. I didn't like beating on it either! This is a great forum with lots of good people willing to help us Kahr newbies. Congrats on your new baby and good luck!

I just got my CM9 three days ago, and I've been practicing taking it apart and putting it together quite a bit. I haven't had a chance to test fire it yet, so other than a lot of dry firing, that's what I do. Anyway, getting that slide pin out has been the one thing I have not gotten the hang of yet. I've tried a hammer (which made me very uncomfortable), and a penny (which didn't work), and the side and long end of an empty mag (which sort of works). But the one thing I can say is that when it actually does pop loose, I have no idea why. Putting it back together I think I've mastered ... but getting it out ... not yet. I did read about the thimble idea which I will need to try ... once I find a thimble. Do be sure to read the directions carefully on putting it back in. It took me several tries (reading the directions carefully every time) before I finally got the hang of it.

I like the word push or tap rather than hit. I've used a short piece of dowel, a screwdriver handle, it's just a tiny bit tougher than the usual finger can push unassisted.

Once you get that initial pop its easy. Just getting it lined up right and getting it started.

I do also use a plastic tipped small hammer and give it a tap or sometimes a push with the same hammer tip.

With a little practice the mystery will disappear an it will get easier.

Welcome to the forum from North Georgia.
I ordered a CM9 3 weeks ago and today a CW9 arrived from the distributor...the wait begins again.
Definitely read the stickies and prep the CW9 before taking it to the range.
The slide stop pin is very tight initially and tapping it with a wood or plastic screwdriver handle works well. It will become easier to remove when the gun is broken in. Be aware that there is a spring which holds the pin in place and it can be bent if the pin is not reinstalled properly. The end of the spring goes on top of a tab on the slide release.
The CM9 magazine should have a metal base pad on it. If she wants a plastic base pad, the one for the CW40 fits the 9mm mags. I have an extra CW40 base pad that I would trade for the metal base pad and save you some shipping charges.

I did manage to hold my mouth right and manage to put pressure on the slide pin and move the slide forward and back slowly and found the sweet spot. After that opened right up. Thanks for the assist. Now to find more ammo and some more mags for her!

I'll let her know and see what she wants to do. And just for verification, that base pad is black?

Yes, the base pad is black and so is the lock that holds it on.

The best holster I have found for forget-it-is-there comfort 24/7 with my CM9 is the PJ IWB Holster (http://pjholster.com/?page_id=37). There are so, so many members here that will concur. Paul is a great guy and a real gun lover, and he performs magic with kydex - making the holster incredibly comfortable to where you can't tell it is there whether sitting, standing or moving about. It is like the mass of the gun disappears, becoming one with your body. I carry mine with a 15° cant just behind my hip - the sweet spot. I prefer the one linked above with the over the belt clip. I normally wear the above under a loose shirt.

After the first or second range visit that slide stop will come right out. Don't worry about that.
