FWIW with all the talk of sight picture differences I decided to shoot some targets today. These targets were shot with a 2012 PM9 and PM40 with factory installed night sights. Front sight dot was aligned between the two rear dots with the front sight dot being placed on the center of target. Using this sight picture yielded the results I expected. Didn't shoot low as some others have reported.

Distance was 15 ft shot with two hands (right handed shooter) without any type support or bench rest.

Thanks for testing for us.

IMO 15 feet is too short try 10 to 15 yards & I think you will see a difference. I did not get to the range today but I will tomorrow. I will see what I come up with but it will be at 10 yrds = 30 ft. It is a CM9 with stock sights.

I hear you, but I mainly practice at the distances I would be shooting in a self defense situation. I do a lot of double tap and rapid fire at this distance.

Now, my 1911s I like to shoot further out.

No I understand.

When I go to the outdoor range I usually set up to two targets one close & one farther away the 10 yrds.

I have been told if they are within 10 feet you will not have time to gain a proper sight picture anyhow. At least not without risking them taking you weapon away.

I am not a firearms instructor so take this for what its worth. Which is very little. LOL

What can I say, my results are much different using a proper 3 dot sight picture. Must be me then, but my PM9 is the only gun I have not been able to shoot accurately with. And that includes DA revolvers. I will work on it on my next trip to the range, but after 1000 rounds of low hits I doubt much will change.

Are we using the same sights?

If we are shooting the same sights and you are using this sight picture........

from a bench rest and not hitting the center of the target then IMO you may have an issue with the barrel. Note that Kahr sights do not appear to be set up from the factory for a six o'clock hold. If this is how you are aiming then you will be hitting below the target.

If shooting from a bench rest makes holes in the center of target then I suggest you adjust your grip, adjust your trigger finger to squeeze closer to the tip of the finger rather than the first joint, stage the trigger, and also a 5# striker spring from Wolff helps as well.

And FWIW I was shooting Federal 115gr FMJ in the PM9.

I seemed to shoot a little better today. It is harder for me to be precise at this particular range as there is not enough light (indoor range). I am still shooting an average of two inches low free hand at 10 yrds but I can live that.

The next range session will be outdoors. Much easier to define the sight picture. At the indoor range the black of the sights & black of my target meld together too
much.

I agree with Jimsea you can not use a 6 O'clock.
