Hi all,
First of all thank you the info contained in the stickies. I read them all with great interest before purchasing my new K40. My wife owns a CW9 and I liked the feel of it but wanted to get a 40 for myself. I came across a CW40 at a local shop and it felt like it belonged in my hand. However, here in Calif., it is only available to the LE arena. Bummer! So I looked high and low to find the K40 which is available to JQ Public. I picked it up yesterday and following all of the advice I found here, did the prep to make my first trip to the range a success. And a success it was tonight. I was not so much going for accuracy as I was putting in the obligatory 200+ break-in rounds. The first mag at 15 yds was about a 6 inch group but that tightened up as I got used to the longer trigger pull. You see, my other toy is a Springer fully loaded 1911 and these are definitely two different birds. But each of them will have different roles to play. Again, thank you for the wealth of information I have found here on this forum. I think I'm gonna like it here.

Welcome to the forum! You picked up a great gun in the K40. I have been looking at getting one of those myself. Glad you decided to join us!

Welcome to Kahrtalk.

CW40 only available to LE????? That's stupid. Glad you were able to get a K40

I went out and put another 100 rds through it. I've read about some folks thinking these shoot low and was prone to think likewise. My wife fired a couple mags and had no problems with it. Did I mention that she has only been shooting about a month? (She has not developed any bad habits yet.) I think (know) that it is my transition from the SA loaded 1911, and will just require some time to get familiar with it. After all, I'm only a couple hundred rounds into it.

Im a new CW9 owner. Been lugging my 1911 around throughout the winter. Remington R1 Centennial. I picked up the CW9 with summer carry in mind as well as something my girlfriend can likely handle. I love it though and also found tons of good advice here, especially with break in and slight mods to the follower to smooth feeding. After the mod i can now ease the slide and it feeds like butter. Having trouble finding 9mm rounds in my area lately and its burning a hole in my hand every time I hold it. On a Springfield note, I put rounds down range recently through the Springfield EMP 9mm have you had a chance to handle one yet? I fell in love with it immediately. Price and availability made it a challenge though. If I happen to come across one you better believe I'll roll change to put it on layaway if I have to! Anyway, welcome!

I'm really starting to like this critter, however I have noticed that my spent brass is flattened on one side (looks like a "D"). I can't post a pic yet as I don't have that permission. I am not experiencing any FTF/FTE problems, it just doesn't seem right. The casings seem to be hitting the bottom portion of the ejection port, judging from the condition of the casing and the brass residue on the port. Is anyone else experiencing this?

It's normal, my MK9 and CM9 do it. They straighten out in the resize die.

Thanks Ikeo74 for the response. Upon further review of the "Operating Instructions", I found on pg 23 that this is normal and no need for concern. I'm sure I read that when I first got it, (contrary to mothers beliefs, I do read the instructions) but with the excitement the brain didn't file it away.

Congrats on the new k40. My buddy had one and i got a few rounds down range with his, great pistol. Definitely had some pop to it. About the only negative thing I had with it was mag capacity, other than that it shot real smooth and on target. Just like my k9...
