my girlfriend has decided she wants a naa guardian in 380. i noticed that they offer gutter sites as an option. has anyone had any experience with these? are they really that much faster? i also noticed kahr machines all of the slides for the guardian series. i wonder why they dont offer gutter sights on any of thier pistols? seems like it could be a good option for the perfect deep cover pistol (pm9). no sights to snag while drawing. i wonder if kahr would sell a slide that hasnt been dovetailed yet so you could have a gunsmith machine a gutter into it.........hmmmm.......

There is a post on the NAA forum about them, just search Gutter Snipe. They look interesting, but at the ranges I intend to use my Guardian, I dont think they are needed.

I have long said (from experience) that at combat distances, if you can see the back of your weapon on your target, then you'll hit. It probably will not be a good hit, but a hit buys you time, to get a slightly better flash sight picture, and hit 'em again, repeat until your opponent thinks he is dead. As you get hits, and time use that extra instant to better your sight picture.

The naa still has tritium inserts.seems like these would be a lot more helpful than just the channel by itself like some guns have.I've noticed most revolvers are kind of like a gutter sight, and some people get amazing accuracy with them.the asp pistol also uses them, and it was intended to be a true fighting gun.I just wonder if there is enough on the top of a kahr slide to machine away a channel or if it would affect the strength of the gun.

Most weapons do not have the strength/mass required to mill a channel down the length of the slide, and most have stayed with more traditional sights for several reasons. Bottom line, gun makers have been doing this longer than we have and might know a thing or two about it, especially in these litigious times that we live in. If you still wanted to run a gutter sight set up on the Kahr, you would probably have to make a 2 cross type adapter channel that would replace your stock sights. It can be done fairly easily if you have the materials and a bit of skill with power tools and files. It would however change the profile of the pistol that holsters would then become a problem. Spend that 2 cents wisely.

I don't want to add a channel sight that would increase the height of my pistol.that kinda defeats the whole snag free idea of a gutter sight.if you look at the naa guardian it only runs about a third of the length of the slide and has tritium inserts.I think this would be a faster aquisition sight, kind of like xs big dots, except you wouldn't worry so much about windage and elevation, kind of like front sight aiming. My question is first.....if you have shot a gun with gutter sights, did you notice and increase in speed while aiming, and second, since kahr has the technology to do this(they do the machining for naa),why don't they offer this as an option for any of their pistols.I would understand if there isn't enough material to mill away and still leave the structural integrity of the gun in tact, but if there is it seems like it would be a great option.

I haven't shot them, I have played with them a bit and just didn't cotton to those. Slides must maintain the mass in order to keep the timing correct, I would hesitate before having that done. Ask Kahr if it can be done and act accordingly.
