View Full Version : I Love My CM9! Should I Get a Second One?

Or is that unnecessary? My thinking is:
I can save wear and tear on each gun by alternating every range trip. Is wear and tear an issue? Polymer rails?
If something does go wrong with one, I'll have the other as back-up.
I've had bad experiences in the past with both a P9 and a CW45. Both had triggers that would not reset. CW45 was fixed. P9 continued to fail.. confidence was lost in those guns and were sold.
My CM9 is the first Kahr winner for me.
Should I consider adding a second one? I'd sell my HK P7 to justify the expense.
Many people say, "With Kahr, it's luck of the draw, sometimes you get a good one and pure happiness and sometimes you get a lemon and anguish".

There's no luck involved. If you get a lemon and anguish you give Kahr a chance and they make it right. I think the lemons are far fewer than most would believe.
I doubt you'll wear out your CM9 but your logic is sound.
You cut use in half by adding a second.
My dress blew up a little bit when I read of the possible sale of the HK P7, I no doubt don't have enough loot but I call first dibs on a chance if it goes on the block.

the polymer rails serveno purpose, the slide does not run on the polymer rails. u ain't gonna shoot out a kahr. PERIOD. have u ever read aywhere where nyone has shot out a kahr, for for that reason most any gun. Nutti worng iwth owing mor than one kahr, I own 3, two are used . I didn't buy um though with any thoughts of shootig ne out and having a spare etc etc.
Most kahrs are troble free also. not realy luck of the draw. If u get a lemon ket kahr sweeten it up for u ad make it right. A kahr just gets smoother with rounds down range, other than that qit worrying about what ai't gonna happen.

NO NO NO, Don't buy another CM9............Get a PM9 or better yet a MK9. Every thing will be interchangeable. Mags, holsters and ammo. Get the best of both or all three. I pocket carry my CM9 and belt carry my MK9. When you go to the range you will have extra magazines too.;)

I thought about getting a PM9 instead but so many people ask, "Why pay the $200 extra for basically a polygonal match grade barrel in a pocket gun?"
They make a good point, y'think? That and the machined slide stop and trimmings. Worth the extra $200?

I agree with the mk9. I have a pm9 and an mk9. They are the perfect companions.

If you get the pm9 in black like I did, with night sights, it will make all of the difference in the world. It was worth the extra money for the PM9 to get the black.
By the way, PM9 and the MK9 have the same trigger

I was thinking of getting the mk9 at one point, but ended up with the pm9. No regrets here! but it would be nice to have an all steel frame also.

Yeah. Heavy compared to polymer. But it will be more fun at the range. And will do for carry in a pinch. Wood grips with checkering and/or some skateboard tape should work for your grip. Plus it's dang good lookin'. Try shooting one if you can.

If you are thinking about the k9 nypd triggers, don't worry. The mk9 trigger should be the same as your pm9 or cm9.

All steel 9mm are a dream to shoot. My CZ and HK P7 are good examples. MK9 with the wood grips is a beauty! IDK, decisions decisions...Then again, jocko made a good point earlier. You don't need a back-up of the same gun. The CM9 will outlive you if you treat it right. I'm starting to realize he's right. Besides, what am I gonna do? Buy a back-up of every pistol I own. Think I'll follow his other long-time advice: Just shoot it like you stole it.

Yeah but a fun decision at that...
Truth is I think you guys all have me convinced to pick up a cm9. Dang! Would be my first polymer.

Go for it! Get one for about $400 from Gunbroker.
Like I said earlier, my CM9 is the Kahr pistol I always dreamed of. Took me a while, but I got here.

Looks like I'm keeping the P7 Bawanna. No hope for the fickle minded.
Gets pretty hot after 5 mags back to back. ouch. But, as you know, a freakin tack driver. Think the Germans designed it to end "a situation" rather quickly.

If you ever do think about an MK9 ... you should consider one of these.

Thanks, I shot my brothers duty and the NYPD triggers are awful at best. I don't know how they can actually issue those triggers.

You must have a very sensitive finger. I've pulled em side by side and I'm hard pressed to tell the difference.
I think blindfolded the average person wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

My CM9 trigger is terrible, heavy, compared to my CW45, both are still nearly new, is that normal?

I would expect it to break in with time but I'm curious what the others think. Might need lubed? Check the prep sticky in the new member area if you haven't already. My mk9 trigger improved after I flushed and lubed the striker channel. Heard stories about brand new guns with gunk in there too. Hope this helps.

seriously doubt if u had a trigger guage that it would go above 7#.Guarantee u after 200 runds the trigger will feel alot smoother. Need not to worry IMO>

You guys are probably right. I have cleaned and preped both. The CM9 is fun to carry but the CW45 is fun to shoot. Both are comfortable to shoot to me, but I am used to shooting 1911 and 2011 comp guns. Sorry to the OP for the hijack, I would and will buy either a second CM9 or get a CW9, probabbly the later.
