Are there other manufacturers of wood grips for the MK series other than Khar?

Seems that there are too many fitment problems with the ones Khar sells.

Curious about other people's experiences with other brands of grips.

Unless you can convince Bawanna (http://www.kahrtalk.com/member.php?u=585) to make you a set, I believe what Kahr offers is about as good as it gets.

Name one fitting problem.........There is only a minor adjustment that needs to be made on the inside if the grip bottom screw. A 10 year old can do it.

The exception is if your gun is over 10 years old the current grip will not fit..

If it's the 10 year old version I can make a set, the GA series.

I don't have a new model to fit to.

Check your serial number prefix, the new version grips ser # starts with GCxxxx. The new grips fit the GC's and you can buy them from Kahr. The older models serial # starts with GAxxxx. The new grips won't fit that one. However Bawanna says he can make wood grips for the GA Models. Check with him.

It is not that hard to make the grips fit. You just need to carve out a little wood around the screw. I used a razor blade. You should not have to do this on a new purchase, but the wood grips look great.

My wood grips have a lot of gouging, digging in them. My gun is a GA and the grips are "modern". I gues the previous owner did a little more than necessary? My current MK is the 9, the grips came off a MK40 Elite.

Summary: The section that needs trimmed is near the lower screw tab. It's only a small amount of material. Even if your woodworking isn't pretty, it cannot be seen once the grips are on the gun. It's an easy job. Mk9 only. Not sure about mk40. K series fit fine without any adjustment. Kahr's grips do not fit GA serial number mk9s. But the colonel can make those.

MK40 is the same. I had to trim a little wood to clear the part the screw screws into.

Newbie here, I have one of the MK9s with the dreaded GA prefix and have been trying to figure out what is different between it and the later versions as far as the wood grips go - can the wood grips be modified to fit the GA numbers? What does that involve? Sure would like to put wood grips on it but want to know for sure what modifications need to be made before ordering them. Thanks in advance.

This is something I've been trying to figure out for a long time.

I've found that apparently the GA vs GC? serial are not all created equally.

I've made grips on my borrowed GA that fit GC, I've also sent grips from my GA that did not fit other GA's.

I've heard that folks buy the grips and it only takes a little bit of wood removal to make them fit, I've also heard that you have to use different length screws top and bottom. It's enough to buy Excedrin in the large family size.

I'll send you a PM with a plan, not a great plan but a plan none the less.
