And the associated story: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/04/30/native-americans-incensed-over-pro-gun-rights-billboard-in-colorado/

Some people are upset over the image. I say tough. People don't like it because it's true & it's effective. If it were calling for more welfare or more Obamaphones no one would care about the image used. And I don't think that even the Native Americans who are complaining have a right to do so. They are our fellow human beings. They deserve respect, but simultaneously they can't assert censorship over telling history for only when it suits their purpose.

"It wasn't just about our guns," said Vernon, a Native American.

Greeley resident Maureen Brucker, who has worked with Native American organizations and who frequents the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota as an honorary family member, said she thinks the billboards are making light of atrocities the federal government committed against Native Americans.

No kidding atrocities? And that couldn't possibly happen to an unarmed American population right?

If the lady had kept her easily offended trap shut, the billboard would have gotten much less exposure. Thanks to her, the message is reaching a much wider audience. Thank you, Ms. Brucker.

Funny my momma said that to me a lot when I was a kid.

Unintended consequence. I suddenly have the urge to curl up on the floor in a fecal position and suck my thumb.

To me, the trail of tears is synonymous with the Batan Death March. They both were atrocities in their own right. My wife's tree has a rescued member of said march as they passed close to where they lived and they hid him.

The symbolism of the Indians with guns pic is that they believed what they were promised by the President which turned out to be outright lies. In case you forgot Obama is our current President who is very familiar with lies. The depiction is accurate and quite appropriate for these times.
