I know the CW45 holster selection is kinda thin, but hoping someone can help out. I am looking for a nice leather OWB belt holster with thumb break. I know all about the debate between retention and no retention, but I prefer the piece of mind having it. Not at all a fan of IWB, have tried it and just don't like it. So, any suggestions out there?

Kahr has already gathered a selection of holsters that fit the CW45. Here is the link:
http://www.kahr.com/CW45-Holsters/ALL/CW45-Holsters.aspx

If you look a little past half way down, you'll see the G&G Paddle and Belt Slide Holster in regular or with CT laser mounted, right or left handed. By golly! I think I nailed it! :)

Before you toss out the IWB try the Crossbreed. Just saying. I carry my 1911 in one and LOVE IT!

Nevada GunLeather makes 2 versions of a slide holster with retention snap. I think these are very reasonable & effective! Link to site provided. Good luck in your search. :D

Another option to check out.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will check them out when I get home. I have already looked at the Kahr suggested ones, and didn't really see anythere that jumped out at me. I havew been told by a couple of people to look at the crossbreed, I will have to see if I can find one local to look at. Thanks again.

The Nevada holster model says it fits the P/CW/9/40/45 Kahrs. It probably fits the 45s the best.

The other one isn't made for any Kahrs.

I don't buy holsters from any maker who tries to fit multiple guns with one holster model. There are too many custom makers who will make one for YOUR gun and preferences.

What didn't you like about my suggestion? It is a leather OWB with a thumb break, and it has the added benefits of belt / paddle mounting options and adjustable cant.

Nothing at all wrong with your suggestion. I appreciate it. I have been through many holsters over a couple of decade, and have just found that an all leather OWB belt holster works the best for me. Just not into the "options". Had a look at the Kahr suggested ones and didn't see on I liked.

My hands down favorite leather OWB is a Mernickle PS6 model. I seem to recall that Bob (great guy along with wife Sherry) said they could provide a thumb break but I just looked and see no mention of it on his sight.

It truly doesn't need one but if your set on having it, that's what we'll look for.

You might give him a call or email and see. He did tell me that he has the stuff to make Kahr holsters.

They aren't cheap and you have to wait a bit, his time estimates are usually longer than the actual wait. Last one I got was 2 weeks ahead of schedule.

Thanks, I will look into them. A holster to me is an investment like the gun its self. If it is real quality and carries the way I like, I am not afraid to spend and wait on it. I have tried several of the cheaper ones over the years for other EDC and just found that I really don't mind spending for better quality. I have a feeler out with Savoy leather as well. I have one of his for my 1911 and it's awesome. Long wait, and it costs but it's worth it. I just thought I would see what you guys had come across. I really like this Kahr, and think it will the first of at least a few.

As far as the thumb break preference, I have just always had it and am used to it. If I found the right one to try without it, that may be an option. Just a go with what you know and trust type thing.

If your a 1911 guy, definitely take a look at that PS6. That's what I carry mine in most of the time. I've been trying to force myself to like IWB with limited success, it has plus's and I've acclimated to do it from time to time but I much prefer the Mernickle.

It ride very high, doesn't tip out due to his little inside flap that works great unless you want to straddle a belt loop, then not so much.

It hides better than some IWB's I have and hands down all OWB's. Tight to the body.

I used to insist on a thumb break for 1911's, just an extra cushion but no more.

With a Kahr and the long trigger pull, drop safety and not a bunch of levers etc on it, I don't feel a need for a thumb break. In fact I don't have any holsters with them any more. I occasionally use a Blackhawk with the finger release which works well but I much prefer leather.

Your spot on to treat a rig like an investment, many refuse to do that and same with a good belt. The trick is to invest wisely which can sometimes be very difficult, hence the many many drawers full of holsters that didn't make the cut.

I still refuse to pay the price of a rifle for a good scope, hopefully I'll get over that some day but so far I'm just not doing it.
Like they say in Africa, you can always tell the American hunter, he has a 5000 dollar rifle with a 50 dollar scope on it. That's me.

Nevada GunLeather specifically says if your gun model isn't listed, to let them know. I would have no trouble telling them a bikini slide holster with adjustable thumb break for a CW45.

As for the second site, not sure what you were looking at, it DOES list all the Kahr models. I wouldn't have a problem ordering from either. Just sayin'! :D

I personally would not have any issue making a call to a holster maker if they didn't show my make. If I am interested in the product, it is worth a look. also did see all Kahr models listed on the second site. I thought they were both good suggestions. As to what I would get if I ordered one form either of them, well I would have to wait and see. Honestly I do not think I would go with either in this case only because I think I have found two that I am interested in, Mernickle being one. I realize they don't list a thumb break model, but I may be willing to give it a shot for good quality. I don't think I would have any issue checking into either of the two Yogi suggestions though. Always worth a look when one is asking for suggestions.

Another to look at is Garrett Industries. They have some OWB both in leather and leather lined kydex. I'm certain he will add a thumb break if you request one.

I have no experience with their OWB's but have a couple IWB Silent Thunders, the leather lined Kydex and while I'm still not a devoted IWB guy, they are the ones I usually go to. They work well. Gentle on the gun with the leather and tough as nails on the outside. Also very good people and they will do whatever is necessary to make it right for you.

I actually have a couple of El Paso's belts. The do some quality work. I had been thinking of ordering a 1911 holster from them. The Lobos look nice too.

I own several Remora holsters and can attest to their excellent quality! They are made from some super aggressive fabric that does exactly what they say it will! I carry mine against my skin and have no issues with abrasion or movement. I'm sure you're going to love it! I keep it positioned at about 4 O'clock, pick the cant you like and forget about it! :Amflag2:

Meant to say I've never tried the OWB, but this company has an excellent quality to everything they make. I also believe you can convert your holster to IWB if you choose to. Good luck! ;)

I've been looking at these Tagua holsters. Saw them at a local gun store and found their website. I'm shopping for a P45 holster and belt.

Nelson Leather Co (Scio Oregon-near Salem) is a great family owned company. I have some duty gear that I bought from them the first part of 1977. It is well worn, but still good to go!!

They have always been willing to make changes to help with your needs.

My LGS was having a sale on Tagua holsters. I picked up a brown OWB with thumb break for a Ruger LC9 for $19 + tax. It fit perfect for the CW45 with just a very small portion of the slide barrel exposed. I wish I had enough post so that I could show you all a picture.
