Decided to give my CM9 slide a slight melt and send it out for a cerakote refinishing. Sent it out to Easton Firearms Refinishing for their Armor Black finish. Got it back today, after only 11 days! Had them install a Dawson Precision front night sight and new Kahr rear sight while they had it (sent the previously purchased sights in with the slide). I'm thrilled with the way it turned out! Kudos to EFR!

Looks GREAT! They did a beautiful job on that.

Yeah, I'm pleased. They do nice work. The entire job was just under a hundred bucks. My initial impression is that it was well worth it. Time will tell.

May have my CW9 done also.

That's sharp. Looks like you got a new non MIM slide stop lever too.

Yep... Installed a black non-MIM slide stop lever, and also black magazine base plates on my 6 round mags. Also planning on spraying a bit of black spray paint on the bottom of the magazine body bottoms so the stainless color won't be visible when the mag is in the gun. After that, I may start on my CW9. Hope the cerakote is as durable as I've heard it is.

Nice. I emailed CCR, and they didnt respond, then I called and they said to email in the form, which I did. They haven't responded. Maybe I'm in line. Maybe not. Wo knows. Will call your place tomorrow and see if they're interested.

Did you do the slide melt yourself and then send it out for the cerakote? Or did they do everything? It looks absolutely fabulous by the way. Wow. Now I'm torn between all black or really really polished. I think it's the best job I've seen anybody post on here. It's not "Just Another Black CM9."

yeah, i prefer cera-hide to cerakote, since it's a bit more durable and self-lubricating--that said, cerakote is good stuff, and if (a) it's cheaper and (b) they'll respond to emails, those are always a good things.
That's a nice color--i was thinking a matte black would look more like the DLC finish of my old P9, but generally the house-blacks and armor-blacks look great (not even sure if DLC was matte).

Just a hint for spraying your magazines. Put a little etching primer on before you spray the black paint. Bare metal needs something to help the paint adhere to it.

Just a body shop tip for whatever it is worth.

Nice, I had mine done from them in the same color as well a couple months ago. Weird thing is that a few months ago they wouldn't do sight install for me :-(

Where can I get a black slide stop? That looks awesome!

Did the melt myself. Wasn't looking to do anything radical since I do like the lines of the gun, just not the razor sharp edges. Used a small double-cut file, a stone, and various grits of sandpaper. The process was a little tedious, but fun.
Ordered the black slide release lever and base plates from Kahr.

Thanks for the tip Olympicmotorcars. Any suggestions on where I can get some etching primer? Makes a lot of sense to etch before painting. Didn't even know such a product was available.

Looks really good. I would avoid painting the magazines. I prefer the bare stainless magazines, slide stop, and rear plate. I like the contrast of a black gun with a few stainless parts mixed in. But all black still looks slick. If i did the magazines i would send them in to have ceracoated (but would be $$$) and who knowa how they would hold up going in and out of the gun...

That's the first black CM9 I've ever seen.

I've held a Black Diamond PM9 before and it seemed like the factory coating Kahr uses has more of a matte type finish. So the cerakote color I chose to go with was Graphite Black.

Nice. Yep, seen black PM9s before, of course.
Just never a black CM9.
The OP said, "Just another black CM9"
Trying to be sarcastic obviously.

It looks great. I have a black (DLC) Kahr PM9. I wonder if that would have been a less costly option. Kahrs are great and often underappreciated.

When it was all said and done, comparing my CM9 with a PM9 DLC w/ns, I saved around $120.00. Would have initially bought the PM9 DLC w/ns but was low on expendable cash at the time. It ended working out well for me, saving a few bucks in the process.
I'm currently in the process of melting my CW9 slide, prepping it for its trip to Easton!

melt the slide lock while ur doin this stuff.. I even melted the right side of the slide lock pin so that it was now flush witht hge frame. looks like a trigger take down pin, still easy to get the slide lock lever out. U can if interested "search" here for jocko's custom PM9, photos will show u some things I did and had done. I did do the slide lock pin, butaccurate Iron did the melting and stipplying etc. the gun is a real POS nbow as it has over 32K+ rounds through it and the fokker just keeps goin bang when I pull the trigger. Nary a broken part either..
